Highlights
  • Titlis - Our new 8-seater cable car will transport you directly to the glacier world on TITLIS. Simply hop on at the TITLIS valley station in Engelberg and enjoy the comfy ride to 2450m asl. From there you take the TITLIS Rotair the world’s first revolving cable car, to the summit station.
  • Titlis Cliff Walk - 3,041 metres above sea level. 500 metres off the ground. 150 heart-pounding steps. This is what awaits you on the TITLIS Cliff Walk, the spectacular suspension bridge high up on the summit.

To cross the bridge, you’ll need nerves as strong as the steel cables from which it hangs.

On arriving at the summit, the route leads you through the glacier cave via an underground tunnel and on to the viewing platform at the south wall window. The suspension bridge stretches from here to the Ice Flyer glacier chair lift station. The TITLIS Cliff Walk is just one metre wide and over 100 metres long. The views into the abyss below are breathtaking!

The TITLIS Cliff Walk holds the record for being the highest suspension bridge in Europe.

  • Ice Flyer - Be sure to cast your eyes down into the impressive glacier world below. The Ice Flyer chair lift sweeps you smoothly and safely over crisp, virgin snow fields and icy depths. Some of the crevasses are up to twenty metres deep. Only here on TITLIS can you expect such a fantastic glacier experience.
  • Titlis Glacier Cave - This glacier cave forms the frosty heart of TITLIS. The ice here is up to 5,000 years old.

The cave’s 150-metre-long walkway descends ten metres below the surface of the glacier. Exploring the glacier cave is a cool experience. The temperature inside the cave remains a frosty -1.5°C.

Like a fun ride in a theme park - Ice flyer ski lift ride was somewhat an adventure specially because at the time we were there it was very misty with low clouds. Before we embarked, we could only spot the ski lift chairs disappearing in to the clouds and the returning chairs appearing through a haze. It was indeed a thrill to vanish into the clouds and a moment of Adrenaline rush due to the unclear picture or the journey to be undertaken was left for imagination. It was not clear where we were really going but new that we will be back the same way. The entire circuit was hidden in the mist. It was a memorable experience as during the ride we were able to see the terrain from where there were clear patches and of course it was short lived as few moments later we were again engulfed by the mist. It was also the best way to feel the cold at Mt. Titlis with the exposure to the wind.

Mesmerizing and Captivating - The view is mesmerizing and captivating. The gondola ride was amazing and views are breathtaking. The rotating gondola experience is excellent as it gives you 360 degree view while going from one top to other. So many activities on the top to do. Overall a good experience.

A must do… - What an experience! The cliff walk and the ice flyer where unique experiences. The other peaks in Switzerland do not have these yet. The Rotair was good too. We reached late afternoon (delayed flight) but managed to do all activities.

10,000 feet and spectacular - Spectacular views. You'll want to have good shoes to navigate the ice, but the trip is well worth it. The rotating gondola is cool, but holds a lot of people. If you're in the middle, views are obstructed, so get by the glass. Stopping in Stand on the return trip and walking around the lake, or over to the mountain (mini waterfalls from melting snow) is definitely worth it.

Too crowded - Trubsee (must visit) - Take a train from Lucern to Engelberg which departs every 1 hour. There is a 10-mins walk from Engelberg to Titlis cable car station (though there is a regular bus service as well). But I will recommend taking a walk along the water stream. If one has already bought the ticket online, then it is fine. Else, one can buy at Engelberg station as well. The queue for buying ticket at Titlis cable car station was too long. There are two cable cars one has to take to reach mount titlis. One normal and other is Rotair (which rotates 360 degree – though the speed is too slow) Once you reach the mount titlis, there are glacier cave and cliff walk. While buying the ticket, one can also buy the ticket for chair lift (additional CHF 12). The chair lift will take you to glacier park where one can enjoy unlimited snow tubbing and sledging (its ticket is included in ticket for chair lift). While coming back, one will strongly recommend stopping at Trubsee and spend some time on the lake. If interested, one can explore a few activities there like zip lining. Not many people stop at Trubsee so it is more serene than titlis.

YOU HAD BETTER READ THIS !!!! - DO NOT BUY TICKETS IN ADVANCE ON THE WEB. DO NOT BUY TICKETS AT THE GROUND STATION UNTIL YOU HAVE CONFIRMED BOTH THE CABLE CAR AND THE GONDOLA ARE RUNNING. This is because Titlis will often close, allegedly because of the wind. If they close they have a no refund policy. Also, when closed, they don't go out of their way to make it obvious. if you ask "is the mountain open" they will say yes because it is open to the mid-station. you have to specifically ask " is the cable car to the summit running" to get a straight answer. They close a lot and I say allegedly because of the wind, because on the day we were there they decided to close at 11 am but the weather went on to be absolutely glorious. At the mid station people were sun baking and at the summit, what few clouds there were crawling across the sky. I wish could load the video The cable car ran all day running supplies up and you could watch its peaceful journey. But they kept it closed and took our money. I am sure they will say "oh it was still really windy at the top but you couldnt see it" Maybe. Or they made a bad call, started loading supplies and then didnt want to change plans back when they realized the weather was better than they thought (since they could keep the money anyway). So, dont pay a cent until you know for sure you are going to make it up.
