You will also be fascinated by the concentration of hippos and Nile crocodiles here. For bird enthusiasts, Murchison Falls boasts 450 bird species including the elusive shoebill stork, dwarf kingfisher, white-thigh hornbill, and Goliath heron among others.
En route, visit Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary for your first Big 5 experience with an hour of rhino tracking. Another stop will be in Masindi for lunch. Continue to the park and check into your accommodation to relax for the evening.
Accommodation: Fort Murchison Lodge

Explore Murchison: undertake game drive and boat trip to the base of the falls

Murchison Falls National Park - After breakfast, depart for an early morning game drive across the rolling plains of Uganda’s largest National Park where you can see lions, giraffes, hartebeest, buffalo, and elephants among others. For bird enthusiasts, this area supports the secretary bird and black-chested snake eagle to name a few. Return to your accommodation for some rest and lunch. After lunch, head out for a boat trip to the base of Murchison Falls where you can see more animals including hippos, crocodiles, and several water birds. Continue with a hike (if you like) to the top of the falls. The hike may be strenuous but the thrill of reaching the top is unforgettable. Return to your accommodation and have a relaxed evening.

Exit Murchison Falls NP and Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park.

Kibale Forest National Park - After breakfast at your accommodation, drive to the top of the falls (if you didn’t hike) for a spectacular view before departing for Kibale NP. Otherwise, depart right away (after breakfast) for Kibale Forest National Park. The drive is incredibly scenic, passing through villages, lush green countryside, and hills dotted with tea plantations. Kibale NP is popular for its primates like chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, and red-tailed monkeys. On your chimpanzee trails, these are regularly seen swinging in the forest trees and feeding on wild fruits. Upon arrival, check into your accommodation for dinner and overnight rest.

Top of the world hike and afternoon ride around Fort Portal town.

Kibale Forest National Park - Be up early, have breakfast, and proceed for the breathtaking “Top of the World Hike”. The hike is a popular activity for visitors to nearby Kibale Forest and Fort Portal. The most rewarding time to take this hiking trail is early in the morning when the day is still cool. There are two trails to the top of the world viewpoint (an easy and a more challenging trail). The hike may be strenuous but the spectacular and unforgettable view at the top is worth it. Return to the accommodation for rest and lunch. Later, you may opt for a ride around Fort Portal town and visit places like Tooro Palace and the local market.

Go explore Kibale: Chimp tracking and the Bigodi Swamp Walk

Kibale Forest National Park - After breakfast, head to the trekking point for a briefing on the dos and don’ts during chimp trekking. Then, proceed to trek the chimps in Kibale Forest with an experienced ranger guide. Once you locate the chimpanzees, you will have an hour with them. Return to your accommodation for rest and lunch. Later, go out for the Bigodi swamp walk. The Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, located in Magombe swamp, is recognized for its extensive biodiversity including several primate species like baboons, black & white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, and L’Hoest monkeys. The Bigodi is also a paradise for bird watchers, with major bird species like the grand Blue Turaco.

Transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP and take the Boat trip on the Kazinga Channel.

Queen Elizabeth National Park - After breakfast, exit Kibale NP and continue to Queen Elizabeth NP, Uganda’s second-largest park. Located at the base of the majestic Rwenzori Mountain range, adjacent to Lake Edward and Lake George, the park’s diverse ecosystem includes sprawling savannah, making it ideal for classic big game, ten primate species including chimpanzees, and over 600 species of birds. Arrive early enough to rest, have lunch, and later go for a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel which joins Lake George to Lake Edward. You will be fascinated by the concentrations of giant hippos, elephants, and crocodiles among others. You will also see many varieties of birds at the water shores. Return to the accommodation for dinner and overnight rest.

Queen’s Morning game drive and the afternoon explosion crater drive.

Queen Elizabeth National Park - Be up early and have breakfast. Proceed for a morning game drive in the park, along the Kasenyi plains, looking for lions, elephants, leopards (though hard to spot), bushbucks, Cape buffaloes, waterbucks, giant forest hogs, and Uganda kob among others. Return to your accommodation for rest and lunch. In the afternoon, go for the explosion crater drive, which offers spectacular views of the breathtaking scenery in and around Queen. There is also plenty of wildlife to see along the drive, with common sightings of Cape buffaloes and elephants. Return to the accommodation for relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay.

Proceed to the southern part of Queen – to the Ishasha area

More Ishasha game viewing and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable NP.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest - After breakfast, go for more tree-climbing lion sightings and then transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bwindi is a major habitat for mountain gorillas in Uganda, harboring an estimated 400 mountain gorillas – roughly half of the world’s population, including several habituated groups that can be tracked. With a strenuous day ahead, you will do little upon arrival but check into your accommodation, relax, and prepare for the Bwindi gorilla trekking experience the following day.

Gorilla trekking Bwindi Forest and Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla NP.

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park - After an early breakfast and a briefing by a ranger guide, enter the gorilla sanctuary for your adventure. The beauty of this rainforest is spectacular! The area offers a dramatic, steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense, but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. The time taken and the terrain vary with the movements of these great primates. Once you locate a gorilla group, you will have an hour in their presence. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle and endangered giants is an awesome, exciting experience to be long savored. Return to your lodge for rest and lunch. Then, transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla NP. Upon arrival, check into your accommodation, relax, enjoy dinner, and stay overnight.

Undertake the Batwa Trail experience and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation

Lake Bunyonyi - After breakfast, proceed for the Batwa trail experience. For generations, the Mgahinga dense forest was home to the indigenous Batwa (hunter-gatherers and fierce warriors) who depended on the forest for shelter, food, and medicine. Now, they lead visitors through the forest and introduce them to their old home and survival techniques. The remarkable trail unveils the hidden historical secrets of the Batwa people, expressing their true cultural background. Then, proceed to Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation with stunning views of the Bunyonyi little islands. Lake Bunyonyi is framed by lush, green-terraced hills that reach a height of 2,200 – 2,478m, but it’s the 29 islands of various shapes and sizes scattered across the water that make it most magical.

Go explore Lake Bunyonyi: enjoy canoe ride, interact with the community and sight birds.

Lake Bunyonyi - After breakfast, you can visit the Orugano Rain Forest, which has diverse plants and animals, or spend time interacting with the Batwa (pygmies) community who inhabit parts of the forest and its surrounding areas. Birders will enjoy over 300 bird species recorded here. Alternatively, you can opt for a canoe trek on Lake Bunyonyi, introducing you to the major islands and their rich history, with time spent in a traditional dugout canoe. Return to your accommodation for lunch and relaxation, reflecting on your trip so far.

Transfer to Lake Mburo NP and enjoy afternoon (evening) game viewing.

Lake Mburo National Park - After breakfast, set off to Lake Mburo NP. Drive past the intensely terraced Kigezi hill slopes into Mbarara town and finally Lake Mburo NP. Arrive in the park in the early afternoon and rest before proceeding for late afternoon (evening) game viewing. On the game drive, expect to see gigantic eland antelopes, zebras in large numbers, topis, impalas, warthogs, Uganda kob, and Cape buffaloes among others. Later, relax at the accommodation where you will spend the night.

Mburo park (nature) walk and transfer to Entebbe Airport for your flight out.

Lake Mburo National Park - Enjoy an early breakfast and proceed for the Mburo morning park/nature walk with an armed Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger/guide. On this early morning guided walk, you often encounter hyenas returning to their dens after a night of prowling. You will also have the opportunity to encounter zebras, giraffes, eland, topi, and other antelopes, Cape buffaloes, and more at close range. Take the trail to the top of the hills for a great view of Lake Mburo and beyond. From this vantage point, you can see 9 of the twelve lakes surrounding Lake Mburo NP. Return to the accommodation for checkout and then hit the road to Entebbe airport for your flight out. We hope to see you (or any referral) on your next visit and thank you for choosing Ngoni Safaris Uganda!

Incredible Safari with the Best Tour Company - I heard about Ngoni Safaris from a friend who said they were incredible, and she was not wrong! There were just two of us on the trip with our amazing guide, James, and we had the absolute best time! Every day was so much fun and full of activities that Ngoni had booked for us. They knew where the best places were to go, and James always gave us tips on how to get the best of the different experiences! James also knew so much about all we saw and would continuously point out things we would have missed otherwise. This whole trip was amazing, and we would not have changed anything about it ... other than possibly making it longer! The price of the safari was more than reasonable as it included all accommodations (which were all amazing), permits for activities, meals, and drinking water.

Amazing experience to repeat!!! - We had an unbeliveable experience discovering this spectacular country with ngoni safaris, especially we were lucky to be with Robert, an amazing guide, attentive, funny and with so much knowledge of the country, the people, the wildlife... respecting everything all the time. We really enjoy all the acomodations and restaurants (with nice vegeterian opcions!) We had the misfourtune to be in the queen Elisabeth National park when a terrible terrorist attack happened (10/2023), and in spite of that we felt secure and listened and they didn't hesitate to adapt the route depending on what we felt more comfortable with, looking for other suitable activities (and not adding any addicional costs) Thank you so much for everything!!! :)

15 day Uganda Safari with Gorilla and Chimp trekking. - We just returned from a 15-day Uganda Safari with 2 x Gorilla trekking,1 x Chimp Habituation and 1 x Golden Monkey trekking. (Bwindi Forest) Ngoni Safari was a great company to deal with from start to finish. Sedrick was quick to reply to emails and easy to work with. I would highly recommend their services for your next safari in Uganda. We had James as our driver/guide and he was fantastic! James took the time for our special requests and delivered. Including some great coffee to bring back home with us. The Gorilla and Golden Monkey trekking was difficult and took us approximately 5-6 hours to complete each one. Proper trekking shoes and clothing are recommended. Thank you, James and Ngoni Safaris for making this a memorable experience that we will cherish!

An amazing holiday - We had an excellent experience with Ngoni Safari. Sedrick tailored for us an intriguing 15 day itinerary and James, our guide and driver, executed it brilliantly, explaining to us so many different facets of his amazing country and always driving safely and prudently. His keen eye allowed us to see innumerable animals and even witness an attack on a buffalo by six lions. It was like being live on National Geographic! The lodges we stayed in were all beautiful and had their own charme. Some of the service received at those lodges was truly first class level. We throughly enjoyed our holidays in Uganda and would recommend to anyone looking to experience ever changing panoramas and encounter countless impressive animals (Elephants, giraffes, buffalos, lions, gorillas, chimpanzees, golden monkeys, zebras, hippopotamuses, etc etc )

The Gem of African safaris - The absolute best experience of African safaris. We have previously been to Kenya, Tanzania, Senegal, South Africa. We liked how nature and animals are treated with respect. Hotels built in nature parks do not have gardens, because the animals must be able to move freely in their area. People are friendly and helpful. We really liked our tour company, Ngoni Safaris. Everything was great, from the meeting at the airport. Many thanks to Jolly and Sedrik for organizing a great tour. But the biggest thanks to our excellent guide James, who was very considerate, caring and attentive. We definitely recommend using this tour operator to everyone and especially to our friends. The best part of the tour was meeting the gorillas. Those were priceless moments when you can be around them and see their work so closely.

Amazing trip - One of the best experiences of our life. The trip was perfect, we made many changes to the itinerary to suit our preferences, thanks to Sedrick for making this possible. Accommodations and food were perfect. The food is delicious and the accommodation is incredible. The activities were great, we saw all kinds of animals thanks to the experience of David and Denis who took us to the best places. Many thanks to David and Denis who were always looking out for us, worried that we were always well. Always integrated with us like two more friends of the group. You already know that Galicia is now your home, thanks for everything guys.
