Ziwa Rhinos and to Murchison Falls

Murchison Falls National Park - After breakfast, we will drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary on our way to Murchison Falls National Park. Ziwa, a 70 sq km area of dense woodland located beyond River Kafu, is the only place in Uganda where you can see rhinos in a semi-wild environment. After checking in, you’ll take a guided walk with a ranger to see the rhinos, then return for lunch. We will continue our journey, arriving at Murchison Falls in the evening to visit the top of the falls, where the Nile River squeezes through a 7-meter gap.

Game drive and boat Safari

Murchison Falls National Park - At 6:30 am, you’ll set off for a sunrise game drive on the northern bank of the Nile to spot Cape buffaloes, Rothschild’s giraffes, Uganda kob, hartebeest, and waterbucks. You might also see oribi, bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, warthog, and bush pig, as well as large carnivores like lions, leopards, and spotted hyenas. Chimpanzees and olive baboons are among the six primate species found in the park. Crocodiles and hippos can be seen along the Nile’s banks.

You’ll return to your lodge for a late breakfast and some relaxation before embarking on an afternoon boat cruise on the calm Victoria Nile, heading upstream to the base of the falls. Along the way, you’ll see hippos, crocodiles, waterbuck, and a variety of birds. The boat will stop just meters from the “Devil’s Cauldron” for photo opportunities of the stunning Murchison Falls. Later, you’ll return to the lodge for a relaxed evening, dinner, and overnight stay.

Transfer to Kibale National park

Kibale National Park - After an early breakfast, we’ll transfer to Kibale Forest, known as the “Primate Capital.” The scenic drive along smooth roads and through picturesque landscapes of western Uganda will bring us to this well-preserved forest, home to 13 primate species, including chimpanzees. We’ll make several stops for lunch and landscape viewing, arriving in the late afternoon. After checking in, you can opt for a village walk.

Chimpanzees of Kibale & to Queen Elizabeth National Park (Evening game drive)

Queen Elizabeth National Park - Today is dedicated to chimpanzees. After breakfast, we’ll head to Kibale Forest for an 8:00 am briefing on the rules for trekking chimpanzees, followed by a guided search for them in the forest. Kibale Forest National Park boasts the highest number of primate species in the world, including around 5,000 chimpanzees in Uganda. An experienced ranger will lead the morning chimp tracking. Once we locate the chimpanzees, you’ll spend an hour with them before returning to the accommodation for lunch. After lunch, we’ll drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most famous park. After checking in, prepare for an evening game drive through the park.

Morning game drive and afternoon boat

Queen Elizabeth National Park - We’ll explore Queen Elizabeth’s Kasenyi plains with a morning drive through the network of tracks in search of big game (lions, leopards, elephants, serval cats, kobs, buffaloes, hippos, etc.) before an afternoon boat safari on the Kazinga Channel. This 40 km long channel attracts wildlife, especially during the dry season, and is home to the highest number of hippos, crocodiles, and various water birds. A 2-3 hour cruise will offer a magical experience. After the cruise, we’ll explore the crater lakes on a Crater Lake drive.

Transfer to Bwindi through Ishasha sector

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - We’ll drive to Buhoma through the park’s most famous region, Ishasha. Ishasha, a remote area flanked by the Ishasha River, is known for its tree-climbing lions and supports large herds of buffaloes, topis, waterbucks, kobs, and elephants. It retains a relatively untouched wilderness character. After lunch at Topi Lodge, we’ll continue to Buhoma for an overnight stay. In the evening, you can engage with the women at the community project by the lodge, learning how to sew and make crafts.

Gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - Bwindi forest, covering 331 sq km of rugged terrain along the Congolese border, is Uganda’s top tourist attraction. The forest is home to diverse mammalian fauna, including half of the world’s mountain gorilla population. The main activity here is gorilla tracking. We’ll drive to the Bwindi Forest Park headquarters for orientation and briefing before embarking on the trails for an unforgettable encounter with mountain gorillas. The activity can last 3-8 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location. After tracking, we’ll return to the lodge for an overnight stay.

Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Lake Bunyonyi - We’ll drive through the countryside to Africa’s second deepest lake. The transfer takes us through southwestern Uganda, along the brown roads of the Bwindi sector of Ruhija, and onto the Kabale Kisoro Road, leading to Lake Bunyonyi. We’ll arrive in the afternoon and enjoy a relaxed evening at the lodge. There are optional activities available if you wish to participate.

Explore Lake Bunyonyi and evening walking safari at Lake Mburo National Park

Lake Mburo National Park - We’ll explore the wonders of Lake Bunyonyi, a flooded river valley with Africa’s second deepest lake, dotted with 29 islands rich in history and significance. The lake connects communities and is a haven for birds. We’ll visit notable islands, including the Punishment Island, where girls who became pregnant before marriage were once abandoned, and others chosen by your local guide. Afterward, we’ll transfer to Lake Mburo National Park, a journey of about 3 hours. Upon arrival, we’ll check in at the lodge and embark on an evening walking safari with a ranger guide, offering a chance to walk among wildlife and learn about the smaller details often missed from a vehicle.

Game drive and transfer to Entebbe

Entebbe - After a hearty breakfast at the lodge, we’ll take a game drive to see resident favorites like buffalo, impala, zebra, eland, warthogs, and bushbuck. Accompanied by your guide, we’ll then drive back to Entebbe, crossing the equator. We’ll arrive in the late afternoon and check into your lodge. You can choose to explore Entebbe town on your own or relax at the lodge.

Visit Mabamba swamp for the Shoebill and exit through Entebbe

Mabamba Swamp - Even if you’re not a bird watcher, the Shoebill is a must-see. We’ll drive to the landing site and board a boat to Mabamba Swamp, Uganda’s top birding destination. The swamp itself is a remarkable sight. After this excursion, we’ll transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
