Bus and tickets to Vesuvius - Excellent day out. Well recommend this. The meeting place is next to the train station and left on time. After a 30 min, rather windy road, we arrived and had about 90 mins to walk up and down. It's a hard walk up, but well worth it. Bus collected us on time and took us back to the train station. Highly recommend. Its great!

Tiring but amazing experience - The coach ride up was an experience in itself as the road is so narrow and coaches go up and down constantly. Our driver was great giving us info and facts as we drove up. We were then told our meet time for the return journey and set off up the volcano. One thing you cannot do is underestimate how difficult the climb is. It’s gradual with some steep parts but it’s on loose gravel and stones. So slip a lot. Coming down is almost as hard because of this. However. The view at the top is worth it. To see inside the crater and watch the smoke rising, and then turning around to see whole of the bays below you (Naples etc) and if walk around far enough even to see Pompei is breathtaking. We had a coffee (yes there is a cafe/shop) at the top which is manned by some lovely staff. Prices were actually reasonable for its location :) We returned to our driver for return leg and once safely back at base we asked for recommendations for some food and said thank you and good bye. Definitely would recommend

Well organised with safe driving. Enjoyable hike. - Meeting place is easy to find using Google maps. Office staff were friendly and helpful. We got there in good time and there was time for a coffee nearby. Check the price of the coffee before you order! There is a WC next door to the office and asks for a 50c. It's clean, I recommend you use this facility, there is no public wc at the Vesuvius park, the cafe bar in the car park there makes you buy something and then the facilities are awful! The coach left about 10 minutes later than the schedule but we made good time on the journey. Even though the road up the mountain is twisting the drive was smooth. As we got off, the driver held a sign with the time needed to return to the coach. We had plenty of time to walk to the crater. It is quite a steep hike and you need good shoes. It's cold in the wind, the clouds are wet but you work up quite a warmth as you walk, a windproof, waterproof but breathable jacket is a very good idea. We were fortunate and had good views at the top. The coach arrived in good time for the return journey.

Reliable way to summit Vesuvio - Vesuvio Express booked through Viator is a great way to get to Vesuvio and Pompeii in a single day, and Viator’s free cancellation policy if the weather forecast looks bad is reassuring. We went to Pompeii straight from Vesuvio, taking the SITA bus (cheap fare) from Vesuvio instead of returning to Ercalono on the Express to then take the train to Pompeii —doing this gave us more time at Pompeii site. We encountered people on Vesuvio who did not take Vesuvio Express, did not have Vesuvio park tickets, and were denied access to the summit trail. This is a reliable way to get to the summit.

Rushed up and back down - The trip was fine. However we could have used more time. It felt rushed once we arrived we had just over an hour to get to the top and back down, and there is loose gravel and uneven ground so if you are not in shape it would be very hard to make it to the top. My suggestion would be to allow another 30 minutes time.

Directly cheaper.Tickets would be available in the office on site for 25 euros, not for 35 as with advance order!!Miss of my wife no - Direct booking!!!In case of short-term sickness no refund although my 2nd paid seat on the bus was very well filled!!!

Explosive trip to vesuvius - Arrival is a bit chaotic - one queue regardless of which trip you are on that day. Return is utter carnage - given a time to be back for bus but it’s irrelevant and just a bun fight- no ticket checking and if the bus driver fancies you then you’ll be fine. Vesuvius is great but next time I would walk up as you get a much more interesting itinerary with information on the route and good paths. You only join with the masses at the end.
