Self guided audio tour of Herculaneum - Less crowded than Pompei and more personal and atmospheric. More to see in the way of fresco’s and mosaics. Once we got our heads around using the audio guide which also displayed written material, our visit came to life. Good value for money.

Amazing Herculaneum Ruins - Really interesting tour. So much history dating back 2000 years. Guide Luciano was very knowledgeable and showed the group all of the best parts with photos. I was late and staff were great to get me to join the tour. It was not crowded and easy to take photos.

Skip Pompeii and go to Herculaneum with Signore Leone. - Signore Leone have a conscious and educational tour. He may have has to use many words sometimes to express some concepts, but the message was always communicated well and thoroughly. He didn’t walk too fast for my mother and was engaging enough for my 10yo. Plus, he came very prepared with his own visuals. I regret not tipping him more.

Excellent tour with Luciano. - Luciano made our visit to Herculaneum something special. He kept our attention for the full two hours and introduced us to several ‘special treats’, keeping the spintria until last. Herculaneum is a magical place but Luciano added an extra level of quality to the visit. He has a superb grip of the archeology of the site and my wife and I were both very pleased to have booked this tour.

Luciano was fantastic - Our guide was Luciano, and he was excellent in all respects. He has deep knowledge and knows how to impart it to the group with engagement and enthusiasm. We loved every minute with him; the two hours seemed to fly by despite the heat, and we were sorry when the time with him ended. Luciano was one of the best guides we have had anywhere, on any trip, in any country we have visited.

Diego was wonderful! - Diego pointed out so many details we otherwise would have missed - so glad we had a guide. Skillfully lead us from shade to shade to protect my pregnant wife!

You can no longer live in an undecorated house in the fourth style - We were with a small group to visit the excavations of Herculaneum. Despite the heat, it was a very pleasant experience. There is a lot to look at and discover and if you venture alone, without a Guide, the risk is that the attention threshold drops inexorably, perhaps exhausted by the lion sun. And all this, despite the very interesting audio guides. They also had nice music and the descriptions were quite detailed, sometimes a bit too repetitive, with insights that we have often been tempted to listen to. Even the most “bad tourists” among us, enjoyed the visit, particularly appreciating the reproduction of Hercules who seemed to want to urinate on us and the beautiful villas overlooking the sea of Herculaneum that today would become high-class B&Bs. Made with audio-guides, the visit is very free and you can safely choose what to see and what to skip, eventually. It would be interesting to propose a path that is not complete but oriented to visit only the points of interest, to avoid getting lost among many homes that, all in all, are identical.

Herculaneum - Didn't need to pre-book as site not busy. Small site but very interesting. If visiting independently of a tour some sort of guide is helpful.
