Great time at Montserrat - We had a great time in Montserrat. The views were amazing and the basilica is incredible. Make sure to make time for the art museum too. It is very good and there is a lot to see. We had rain during our visit, but Bosco did a great job of still showing us everything there and keeping us entertained throughout. He even lent us his own umbrella.

Don’t miss Monserrat tours: hiking, riding horses, or liquor tasting! - Our tour guide Carlos was excellent, and so was the other guide Lucas who met us personally at the original meeting place when the venue was changed. Even though the Montserrat brunch is no longer offered, Carlos led us to the liquor tasting and provided pastries. Liquor tasting was at a counter with 4 samples made locally which were all really good. Only thing missing was barstools and a chance to sit and sip. Carlos was an excellent storyteller, showed us the best views, and took us to the market to provide us with cheese and nuts. Carlos even got us into the church - one of the most beautiful in Europe - before it was closed to the tourists when mass started. The views at Monserrat, the cross on the hill, and the Black Madonna at the altar were sights to behold! There was a lot to see and do at Monserrat, even if you don’t take the fernicular to the top or below. Carlos and Lucas did a great job, and I plan to come again to go to the top on the fernicular and hike down. I also liked free time (1 and 1/2 hours) to do your own thing before taking the train back.

Montserrat by bus and train - Carlos was very informative on the history of Montserrat and even managed to get us into the basilica. Liquor tasting was fun too! Wow! Highly recommended tour! Lucas came to fetch us in the morning from an alternate tour office which was very much appreciated!

Wonderful experience - Beautiful views, delicious liquors and coques. Carlos was a great guide and managed to negotiate a few minutes inside the basilica for us though it was soon closing for a service. We appreciated his help and good information.

Montserrat views - Day started foggy but the sun came out and cleared it away leaving spectacular views. Astonishing to the chapels and paths the monks transversed to get to them. The basilica was opulent and beautiful. Our guide Jose provided just the right level of detail for the aspects of the Monastery and surrounding area. Don’t forget to make time for the sweet bread - amazing.
