Discovering Espinho: A Family Adventure

Our journey began in the charming coastal town of Espinho, a place that immediately captured our hearts with its vibrant atmosphere and stunning ocean views. As a family, we are always on the lookout for destinations that offer both relaxation and cultural enrichment, and Espinho did not disappoint. The kids were thrilled to explore the sandy beaches, where they could run freely and collect seashells, while I enjoyed a moment of tranquility with a cup of coffee at a nearby café, overlooking the sea.

Espinho is not just about the beach; it’s a town rich in culture and gastronomy. We took a leisurely stroll through the local market, where the kids were fascinated by the array of fresh seafood and colorful produce. The highlight for them was undoubtedly the visit to the Casino, a grand building that sparked their imaginations with stories of glamour and history. The Enchanting Churches of Cortegaça and Válega

Our next stop was the picturesque town of Cortegaça, where we visited the beautiful church adorned with traditional Portuguese tiles. In Válega, we were greeted by another stunning church, the Igreja Matriz de Santa Maria de Válega. The exterior of the church was a masterpiece of tile art, and we spent a good amount of time admiring the craftsmanship. Our journey continued to Ovar, known for its delicious sponge cake. We participated in a workshop where we learned how to make this traditional treat. Finally, we arrived in Aveiro, often referred to as the “Venice of Portugal.” The city’s charming canals and colorful boats provided a picturesque backdrop for our exploration. We took a boat tour, which was a highlight for the kids, as they enjoyed spotting the various birds and learning about the local ecosystem. Aveiro’s rich history and unique architecture offered plenty of opportunities for learning and discovery, making it a perfect family-friendly destination.
