Highlights
  • Essaouira - ESSAOUIRA DAY TRIP Day trip commences at 8:00am to the city of Essaouira, its medina a UNESCO World Heritage site. The old town is protected by 18th century seafront ramparts called the Skala de la Kasbah, which were designed by European engineers. Old brass canons line the walls which offer astonishing views of the Atlantic Ocean. Strong ‘Alizee’ trade winds make the city’s crescent beach popular for surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing.

On the journey there you will enjoy distinct landscapes in the surrounding countryside, watch for goats in the argan trees and visit a women’s Argan oil co-operative. Essaouira is a center of argan oil production. It has become a tourist attraction due to the tree-climbing goats who are unique to the region, as argan trees are the only type the goats climb.
Essaouira presents itself as a city full of culture; several small art galleries are found all over the town. Since 1998, the Gnaoua Festival of World Music is held here, normally in the last week of June. It brings together artists from all over the world, although focused on gnaoua, it also includes rock, jazz and reggae.

Essaouria’s local attractions include Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah Museum, the souks, the old city gates and the port. Essaouira has long beautiful sandy beaches and its owners offer quad bikes and camel rides on the shoreline. You will have free time for lunch & to explore the old medina.
