Highlights
  • Appartement de vacance - This half-day excursion takes us to Sidi Mbark, a small Berber village 35 km south of Essaouira. We walk to a little cascade and close by visit the old Marabout (residence for the spirit of a Saint or wise man). Here, the convergence of a large sand dune, a small river, and an imposing rock splendidly frames a lovely bay.

The stream brings some water (water level depends on season/rainfall) into this very dry region to irrigate local crops. The landscape offers a rich interplay of green, blue and yellow. As it rests on the rocks, the Marabout that gave its name to the village speaks of former times.
Due to the drought Morocco is facing, the cascades may be dry. But the beautiful landscape is still worth the visit.
Walking time is approx. 40 minutes to reach the cascade and 30 minutes back (round trip, plus time for several stops).
If you have kids and you’re not sure if they will make the entire walk, get the donkey to take the strain!
We will take a traditional tea ceremony at a local home.
As we will be driving through the Argan zone, you have the option to visit an Argan oil cooperative and learn about the production of this beautiful oil - in all the world, a product unique to this area. They will offer us a taste of the lovely things they make with it, too.
Very likely you will see the famous goats in the trees on this tour to the south of Essaouira.

  • Tea and coffee
What's Not Included

Top excursion to the nearby hinterland - Had caught a sunny, windless day for this half-day tour 😀 was traveling in a pleasant uncomplicated small group, which additionally made this trip special. Faical, our Moroccan guide was funny, informative, attentive and articulate in both English and French. He reacted individually and authentically to the different people in the group. I totally enjoyed the lonely, deserted landscape pictures. The visit of a Berber family for a late breakfast and Atay b'nahna / traditional mint tea completed the trip wonderfully.

10/10 would definitely recommend to do this activity - This was such a great experience. We saw so many beautiful places that we wouldn’t have seen if we were alone. The beach was so quiet, peaceful and beautiful. Our guide was very friendly, explained everything to us and was very hospitable. Everything was organized and we had a very good time.

Gorgeous - A must-do even if the waterfall lacks water, the diversity of the landscape is sublime. Thanks to Malika our guide for her kindness and the Berber family for their welcome.

Superb walk between beaches and waterfalls. - A wonderful walk on a very beautiful beach, at low tide, under a turquoise sky, to reach the waterfalls, before a climb to the village and stopping at a local's house for the best mint tea of all my stay. Smiles, kindness and benevolence, sublime landscapes, a very good time that I recommend. A big thank you to Malika.

Back to the nature and simple Berber life - You were brought a little closer to nature, what was left of the waterfall and the fossils, to enjoy it while it's still there!

Hike waterfalls and dunes Sidi Mbarck and tea at homestay - A big thank you to our guide Fayçal who gave us one of the best moments of our trip to Morocco. Very beautiful landscapes between the sea, the dunes, the green hills, the waterfall and the small village, all under the beautiful sun!! We also came across camels, donkeys, dogs,...Fayçal was very friendly, he taught us a lot of instructive things accompanied by memories and anecdotes. The welcome in the Berber family was very friendly, which we ate with tea was delicious! I recommend 100%.

A walk with a difference - What an amazing walk! From the welcome, company and knowledge of Faassel to the scenery and atmosphere of the walk - cannot recommend enough! The walk itself was amazing but the tea break near the end showed such hospitality and warmth and made everything about the trip exceptional!!!

Guide didn't turn up. Phone number didn't work. Such a disappointment - I waited at the arranged meeting point but the guide and transport never turned up. Other tour guides waiting there could give me no information about the company. The phone number I'd been given didn't work. Such a disappointment - now trying to get my money back
