Highlights
  • Piazzale Rifugio Sapienza - From your accommodation, we will embark on our journey to Etna! Our first stop is Zafferana, where we’ll learn about the lava flow that once threatened the town, followed by a relaxing visit to a farm for a tasting of typical Etna products like oil, wine, and honey. From a stunning panoramic viewpoint, we’ll marvel at the majestic Valle del Bove, the enormous caldera of the volcano, from above. We’ll then head to the southern side of the volcano to explore one of Etna’s most beautiful lava flow caves, which we can safely visit with helmets and torches provided by our guide. Finally, we’ll reach the Silvestri Craters at an altitude of 2,000m, featuring 5 extinct craters resembling a lunar landscape, where we can walk around and admire the sea, the Gulf, and the city of Catania illuminated by the sunset. This is a one-of-a-kind experience! You’ll uncover the secrets and geological features of the volcano with our local Nature Guides, who hold degrees in Geological Sciences. Amazing afternoon with a fantastic guide - Our lovely guide Laura picked us up from our accommodation in Catania and took us on an interesting and breathtakingly beautiful trip to see some of Etna's famous historical lava flows. Laura was informative and friendly, giving us lots of info about the volcano's geology and history, along with plenty of local knowledge and even a great tip for dinner. Would give an extra star if I could.

Etna by sunset - My daughter and I had the privilege of a sunset tour to Mount Etna with Laura as our guide. The whole process from start to finish was easy from booking and communicating to pick up and drop off. Nothing was too much trouble. We had 3 stops along the way to view Mount Etna's lava flow, taste some local produce , go into a cave and up to the craters. Laura had so much knowledge and it was very informative and interesting. We were especially lucky on our trip as we got to see the smoke rings from Etna that made the news!
