Trek preparation and Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing

Kathmandu - Today, we embark on a guided tour to some of the most historic and spiritual sites in Kathmandu, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Our itinerary includes the ancient Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the iconic Swayambhunath, commonly known as the Monkey Temple, and the Buddha Nath stupa, one of the largest and oldest in the world. In the late afternoon, we will do a pre-trip group discussion, followed by preparations for the Everest Base Camp Luxury Lodge Trek.

Bhaktapur Durbar Square - Bhaktapur Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is nestled in the city of Bhaktapur, Nepal. This square is a magnificent showcase of traditional Nepali architecture and art. It is encircled by ancient temples, palaces, and courtyards that reflect the rich cultural heritage of Nepal. One of the square’s most celebrated attractions is the Palace of 55 Windows, an exquisitely designed palace featuring 55 windows along with a balcony. As visitors wander through the square, they can also admire the detailed woodcarvings and stone sculptures that embellish the buildings, offering a glimpse into the artistic legacy of the region.

Pashupatinath Temple - Pashupatinath is a revered Hindu temple situated alongside the Bagmati River in Kathmandu, Nepal. It holds significant importance as a pilgrimage destination for Hindus, honoring Lord Shiva. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the temple compound encompasses numerous shrines, temples, and ashrams. While the main temple is off-limits to non-Hindus, they can observe the complex from afar. Renowned for its elaborate architecture and detailed carvings, the temple attracts admiration. Additionally, the Bagmati River serves as a significant site for Hindu cremations.

Boudhanath Stupa - Boudhanath stands out as one of the largest and most revered Buddhist stupas globally, situated in Kathmandu, Nepal, and designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its origins trace back to the 14th century, making it a crucial pilgrimage destination for Buddhists. The stupa is adorned with vibrant prayer flags and bordered by quaint shops vending religious artifacts. Moreover, it serves as a vital hub for Tibetan Buddhism within Nepal.

Fly to Lukla and Trek to Phakding

Phakding - We start the Everest Base Camp Luxury Lodge trek with an early morning flight to Lukla, then trek towards Dudhkoshi Ghat, passing through the picturesque Chaurikharkha village until we reach Phakding (2,652m/8300ft). Our inaugural day of trekking treats us to the awe-inspiring sight of Mt. Khumbila, a revered peak that remains unconquered. Our accommodation for the night awaits at the Sherpa Shangrila Resort or a similar upscale hotel.

During peak seasons like April, May, October, and November, flights to Lukla depart from Ramechhap, a 5-hour drive from Kathmandu, as direct flights are unavailable during these months. Helicopter services are offered for an additional USD 300.

Trek To Namche Bazar (3440 M)

Namche Bazaar - After an early morning breakfast, we will begin our trek towards Namche Bazaar. The trail takes us through a beautiful pine forest and along the riverbank of Dudh Koshi. Along the way, we will cross the Hillary Suspension Bridge and may even have a chance to encounter rare wildlife such as the Red Panda, Himalayan Bear, and Himalayan Thar as we enter Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The steep trail leading us to Namche Bazaar, also known as the Mini Thamel of the Everest region, will provide stunning views and a chance to rest and recharge. We will spend the night at Namche Hotel or a similar hotel.

Namche To Everest View Hotel and back to Namche

Namche Bazaar - Today marks a pivotal day in our trek before we ascend to higher altitudes. We’ll keep things relaxed by embarking on short hikes to discover the village. This day offers flexibility; we can opt for an early sunrise stroll to Sagarmatha National Park, relishing the sunrise over iconic peaks like Mt. Everest, Lhotse, AmaDablam, and Thamserku. Alternatively, we can arrange a day hike to Khumjung village, where we’ll visit the Edmund Hillary School and a monastery, rumored to house a yeti scalp. Our night will be spent at the Khumbu Lodge or a similar accommodation option.

Namche To Deboche (3860)

Deboche - Today, we tackle an uphill trek through demanding terrain, navigating steep inclines, riverbanks, and forest paths to reach our goal: Tengboche Monastery, the largest in the Everest region. We’ll proceed at a steady pace, prioritizing the well-being of our legs. The monastery typically opens its doors at 3:00 PM, and we’ll strive to arrive punctually. Tengboche is famed for its monastery and offers breathtaking vistas of revered peaks like Mt. AmaDablam, Mt. Thamserku, and Mt. Khumbila. Our overnight stay will be at Rivendell Lodge.

Deboche To Dingboche (4410 M)

Dingboche - We’ll press on with our trek through the alpine forest, a blend of conifer and Rhododendron trees, Nepal’s national flower. Our path will lead us to Sherpa villages like Debuche and Pangboche. En route, we’ll take a short hike to visit Pangboche Monastery, one of the region’s oldest. Crossing the Imja and Lobuche rivers, we’ll arrive at Dingboche, nestled at 4,360 m/14,300 ft. Here, you’ll be greeted by scenic barley, potato, and buckwheat fields, with grazing animals scattered across. Our day’s journey concludes in Dingboche village, where we’ll spend the night at the Good Luck Hotel.

Rest Day At Dingboche Or Climb Nagerjun Hill (5100 M)

Dingboche - Today is another opportunity for us to adjust to the high altitude. Our plan involves hiking up to the ridge behind the village, boasting awe-inspiring views of Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Cho Oyu, Cholatse, and Taboche peaks. From this vantage point, we’ll also catch sight of Lobuche West, Lobuche East, and Lhotse, towering over the Khumbu Khola valley to our northwest.

After taking in the breathtaking scenery, we’ll slowly make our way back to Dingboche to rest and prepare for the more demanding trekking ahead.

Trek to Lobuche (4910)

Lobuche - Today, we’ll kick off with a satisfying breakfast before setting out on a gentle ascent towards Pheriche valley. Along the way, we’ll meander through alpine vegetation, soaking in the breathtaking vistas of Tawoche and Cholotse peaks. After about two hours of gradual climbing, we’ll reach Thukla for a hearty Nepalese lunch. Then, we’ll tackle the most challenging yet fulfilling part of our journey: ascending to the top of Thukla pass. Here, we’ll encounter memorial stupas honoring courageous climbers and trekkers who lost their lives pursuing Everest. We’ll take a moment to reflect on their bravery.

Following a few more hours of ascent, we’ll finally arrive at Lobuche, where we’ll spend the night at the New EBC Lodge or a similar accommodation option.

Trek To Gorekshep And Everest Base Camp (5364 M) And Return Back To Gorekshep (5181 M)

Gorak Shep - Today is a significant day in our trek as we head towards the Everest Base Camp. After a filling breakfast at Lobuche, we’ll begin a few hours of relatively easy hiking to reach Gorakshep. Upon arrival, we’ll drop our backpacks, switch to day hike packs, and slowly ascend toward the Base Camp while enjoying a tasty local lunch. It’s important to maintain a steady pace to prevent Acute Mountain Sickness due to rapid altitude gain.

During our trek to the Base Camp, we’ll pass the top of the Khumbu Glacier and catch our first glimpse of the Khumbu Icefall. After a few hours of hiking, we’ll arrive at the foot of Mt. Everest, standing at an altitude of 5,364m. We’ll take plenty of time to marvel at Everest’s stunning views before returning to Gorakshep before sunset. Keeping a steady pace and staying aware of our surroundings is crucial for a safe and memorable experience.

Climb Kalapathar (5545 M) And Return Back To Pheriche (4210 M)

Pheriche - Dughlha Road - Day 11 or your Everest Base Camp Luxury Lodge Trek promises excitement as we wake early to catch the sunrise at Kalapathar, a renowned viewpoint offering breathtaking vistas of Mt. Everest and its neighboring peaks. To savor this awe-inspiring sight, we’ll start our hike on a moderately steep trail, maintaining a comfortable pace. After enjoying the sunrise, we’ll head back to Gorakshep for lunch before descending gradually to the delightful village of Pheriche, where we’ll settle in for the night.

Return Back To Namche

Namche Bazaar - To bid farewell to the mountains, we’ll descend to Namche Bazaar, traversing the same stunning landscape of rhododendron, juniper, and pine forests, and crossing the Dudh Koshi River. Along the way, we might catch sight of mountain goats, pheasants, and other wildlife.

After a few hours of walking, we’ll arrive at Namche Bazaar and spend the night there. It’s a perfect chance to celebrate our achievement of reaching Everest Base Camp with our fellow trekkers. Our overnight stay will be at the Khumbu Lodge.

Trek Back To Lukla

Lukla - We’ll retrace our steps along the familiar trail, passing through the Hillary Suspension Bridge, various Sherpa villages, and monasteries until we reach Lukla. Upon arrival, we’ll celebrate the accomplishment of completing the Everest Base Camp trek with a mini party, marking our final night in the Everest region.

Flight Back To Kathmandu

Kathmandu - On this day, we’ll catch an early morning flight from Lukla Airstrip to Kathmandu. Once we touch down in Kathmandu, you’ll have the remainder of the day to explore the city at your own pace. Our guide will be on hand should you need assistance with short day trips or souvenir shopping. Later in the day, we’ll come together for a farewell dinner, providing you with the opportunity to share your feedback and experiences with us. Your feedback is invaluable to us and will aid in improving our services in the future.

Farewell

Kathmandu - For those participating in the Everest Base Camp Luxury Lodge Trek, our staff will ensure to check your flight details and departure time. An experience to cherish….. - We were a group of 18 young old adults with an average age of around 55! Some for the full EBC trek and a few for a shortened version. Planning started almost a year ago with Pradip Karki, who was most patient with our queries and doubts. Our entire trip was meticulously planned and executed. Almost everything was on schedule. We had wonderful guides with us and almost everyone had personal porter. I was lucky to have been assigned Kamal Puri as my assistant. I am almost 65 and had some difficulty in keeping up with the rest of the gang. But Kamal pushed and encouraged me at every point. But for his support I would not have the trek entirely on foot! Thank you Pradip & thank you Kamal for an experience of a lifetime.

Everest Base Camp - Once in a Lifetime! - Did an Everest base camp luxury trek solo with a guide. Peregrine made the entire trip so easy from start to finish - it took no time to sign up and they sent me an itinerary right away. Everything was easy to figure out when I arrived in Kathmandu. My arrival day I had a great tour around town to acclimate. When weather delayed flights they were quick to switch me to a helicopter. My guide, Kamal, was excellent. Because I was solo it was really important that I felt safe, comfortable, and relaxed with my guide. He looked at for me and gave me lots of great details about the area and advice. Incredible experience! On my return to Kathmandu I was sad to learn a family member had died and they were days to quickly rearrange airport transfers at midnight so I could hop on the earliest flight home. Highly recommend Peregrine and Kamal Puri!

An Unforgettable Journey to the Everest base camp - My recent Everest Base Camp trek with Peregrine Trek was an experience of a lifetime. From the moment I arrived in Kathmandu Marriott , then to Lukla to the day I returned, We used helicopters to and from Kathmandu to Lukla and further due to more reliability . We stopped at Phakding , monjo , Namche , on our trek and further up at pangboche, Dingboche ( where we had great acclimatization ascent and descent) Our lead guide, Mukhiya, was an invaluable asset throughout the trek. His knowledge of the region, his passion for mountaineering, and his genuine care for our well-being made all the difference. He was assisted by Ashish and Renjit, who provided excellent support and encouragement and specially my assistant guide Dorji, and both porters Gyan and Dilkumar . Yeti Mountain Homes lodges, which offered comfortable and clean accommodations throughout the first three nights of stay in the trek. The highlight was our stay at the Everest View Hotel, the highest hotel in the world. The breathtaking views of Mount Everest from our room as well as terrace were simply unforgettable. The itinerary was well-paced, allowing us to acclimatize gradually to the high altitude. We trekked through diverse landscapes, from lush forests to barren mountain passes, and encountered a variety of wildlife along the way. The daily briefings provided by our guides could have been better and their knowledge of flora , fauna was patchy, and without WiFi we lacked the education I expected from them. The trek to Everest Base Camp is very very challenging, The sense of accomplishment we felt upon reaching the base camp was immense. The stunning views of the surrounding peaks, including Mount Everest itself, as well as Ama Dablam, Pomori ,made the entire journey worthwhile. Mt. Everest Lhotse ,Nuptse Ama Dablam,Kangtega and Thamserku to name few The entire Peregrine Trek team especially the guides and porters went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and safety. They carried our luggage, and assisted us with any special requests we had and I was fortune to hire two porters just for me with extra payment . Their attention to detail and personalized service made was excellent. Our return was a Heli ride with sops at Kala Pathar and Gokyo lake and then Lukla for additional cost . If you are considering an Everest Base Camp trek, I recommend Peregrine Trek with its owner Pradip Karki always available on WhatsApp or mobile . Certain additional hints : Carry disposable urinal packs for gorakshep where rooms lack bathrooms Hot water bags for last 2-3 days Chapsticks Electrolytes tablets Pillow covers Optional sleeping bag for last 2-3 days ,-20’C verified For Indian travelers , take adequate Indian dehydrated ready to eat packs where you just add boiling water Always have fulfilling breakfast in morning Water bottles with long spouts Layered clothes UV protective sunglasses Adequate back up medicines especially loperamide , Stool softeners , Cetrizine , otrivin, Vicks inhalers ( worked like charm ), Vicks cream , NSAIDS, acetaminophen , I used .25-.5 mg alprazolam which generally not recommended but few of us used it to get good nights sleep and didnot see any breathing depression. We didnot use energy bars etc which is highly cited by people , and actually offloaded few of those to lighten our backpack I carried my GoPro and put it on my Sherpa head , and taugh hi how to use it Overall a great fulfilling trip ,

Spectacular Experience with Peregrine - I booked this trip on short notice, and Peregrine professionally organized everything for us. Our first stay at The Everest Hotel was amazing. Similarly, we stayed at luxurious lodges during the trek. The view from Everest View Hotel was fabulous. Meals during the trek were of high standard. I didn't expect this level of service in the Himalayas. Pradip's prompt response and detailed answers to my questions exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this trip to everyone.

The best trekking company in Nepal - We planned this trip in collaboration with Pradip for a year. He made sure all the details we required were in order. We had no worries when we arrived in Nepal with hotels or taxis; everything was arranged and easy. The trek itself was a bucket-list experience, living up to the hype due to the level of organisation and lack of stress for us. The weather caused extreme delays out of Kathmandu to Lukla airport however Pradip worked tirelessly to get us on a helicopter the next day, when others were stranded for up to 5 days. The guide Nima Dorji Sherpa and porter Tendi Sherpa were the most amazing team. We had no worries and made it through the trek with their support and help. Pradip and Dorji worked hard to plan our elopement at 5530m, which was not easy but we pulled off! Pradip was very quick to respond and make changes to plans as needed, he was very easy to contact. He met with us several times in person to provide us information and local Nepalese experiences too. We would 100% recommend this trekking company!

The best Base Camp trekking tour in Nepal - Pradip was extremely helpful and informative during the planning of this trek, which was planned 1 year in advance. When we arrived in Kathmandu, all was arranged and we did not need to worry about taxi or hotel bookings. Pradip worked tirelessly to get us from Kathmandu to Lukla after severe weather delays. We only were 1 day behind our schedule when others were 5+ days behind. Our guide and porter were amazing and extremely helpful on the trek. We did not need to worry about any planning. Pradip helped us organise our elopement on the mountain which was not easy to do. Pradip replies instantly to all queries so we never felt stranded. Pradip also met us several times in Kathmandu to personally welcome us and provide instructions as well as local experiences. I would 100x recommend Peregrine treks for a personalised worry free trekking experience.

Challenging EBC - Trekking up to Everest Base Camp was a challenging trek, but it was way much satisfying and beyond my expectations. I had first class communication with Pradip, who organized this EBC trek, and Itinerary. I had an excellent trekking guide named Chetup, who looked after my ups and downs throughout the trek. He kept me informed about the Trekking distance to be covered, height to be ascended and altitude to be reached daily, keeping me safe. I will, for sure return to Nepal and have another adventure with Peregrine Trek. Namaste!!!
