Situated at an elevation of 1,350m, the artificial Lake Aoos covers a 12km2 expanse and was built in 1986 with energy production in mind. It’s nestled between the National Parks of Valia Calda and Vikos-Aoos Geopark. Surrounding it, one can find numerous small natural lakes, mountain meadows and 30m high black pine forests, as well as beech trees (Fagus).
