Highlights
  • Killigrew Monument - We discuss the story of the Killigrews — the ruthless family of pirates who founded Falmouth.
  • Custom House Quay - We discover how Falmouth went from nothing to becoming a maritime boom town, famous around the world.
  • Gyllyng Street - What kind of place was Falmouth in the age of sail? A melting pot of nationalities and religious groups, all rubbing shoulders in a town unlike any other. From here we also look across Falmouth from above — the perfect place to soak up its charms.
  • Smithick Hill - What sort of things happened on these streets? A great deal — murders, violence and general bad behaviour.
  • Market Street - Down on the main street we’re at the heart of old Falmouth. Here we find where the ladies of night once prowled, and hear the story of Falmouth’s famous cannibal arrivals.

Great walking tour of Falmouth - A group of us took this tour recently with Will as our guide. Will was dressed in what seemed to us typical 17th century garb which included a three cornered hat. His knowledge of Cornwall and Falmouth in particular was outstanding and his talk was presented with much humor. His talk of the extensive piracy (or privateering) in the area was fascinating. We are unable to stump him with our many questions. The only thing missing, perhaps, was an eye patch and a parrot perched on his shoulder. This tour is highly recommended.

Very knowledgeable and amusingly informative - Will's walking tour of Falmouth was very informative and amusing. We were taken around the town, led by Will playing sea shanties on a harmonium. He brought the history of Falmouth to life with stories of piracy and sea going trade from Tudor to modern times. The walk took a little over 90 minutes and covered the Falmouth quaysides and upper town from the Killigrew monument to the Prince of Wales Pier. A walk that will show you Falmouth and it's place in English history. To be highly recommended.

A dramatic account of the history of Falmouth - From pirates to paquets - we learnt so much about the history of Falmouth. Will delivered each story with panache and enthusiasm and accompanied his stories with jolly Cornish maritime tunes. He is a great story teller. We had a really enjoyable walk.

Great value for money, do it, if in Falmouth h - Amazing tour, with a difference. The music played as we walked thro the town, very eclectic. The information gave a very human element to the history tour, brought the place to life as it must have been in times gone by. His love of the area comes thro clearly and he loves this job!

Now we know a lot about Falmouth - We visited Falmouth as part of a tour of the West Counties of England and it was a highlight! And Will was a highlight of that part of the trip. He has a deep knowledge of the area and a humorous delivery that makes it easy to visualize the past. We learned about the Killigrew family, the packet service and the part it played in commerce and information, and about Joseph Emidy, a story we had never heard before. The pace was good and the length just right. We heartily recommend this tour!
