Colombo - After breakfast, enjoy a 3 to 4-hour city tour of Colombo. Discover famous sights such as Galle Face Green, the Old Parliament building, Independence Square, City Hall, Nelum Pokuna Theatre, Beira Lake, and shopping opportunities.
Gangaramaya (Vihara) Buddhist Temple - Conclude the city tour with a visit to the popular Gangaramaya temple, which includes a monastic and cultural museum.
Leisure World Water Park - After lunch, spend the afternoon at Leisure World in Hanwella, a fun spot for kids. The aqua park offers a variety of water rides, some specifically designed for children. This is a local favorite, providing children the chance to interact with Sri Lankan kids.

Hidden Buddhist Temples in the Jungle & Hindu Pilgrimage Sites
Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara - After breakfast, visit the Kelaniya Temple in the Colombo suburb of the same name. Kelaniya is a pilgrimage site for both Buddhists and Hindus. The Buddhist temple is renowned for its paintings, partly in the Kandyan style and partly masterpieces by Solias Mendis, Sri Lanka’s most famous 20th-century painter. Kelaniya is believed to have been visited by the Buddha, making it the most revered Buddhist shrine in the island’s west. It is also thought to have been the residence of Vibhishana, a Hindu god revered as the guardian deity of the western plains. According to the Indian epic Ramayana, he assisted Lord Rama in his battle on Lanka to rescue Rama’s consort Sita. Thus, Kelaniya is also the most significant Hindu pilgrimage site in the Colombo area. The Vibhishana temple is located within the Buddhist monastery compound.
Munneshwaram Hindu Temple - After lunch, proceed to another revered Hindu shrine on the island. The Munneshwaram Kovil near Chilaw is one of the island’s four major temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, making it a significant temple for the Tamil minority. However, Munneshwaram is also frequented by Sinhalese devotees. On the way, make a brief stop at a modern Hindu Temple in Madampe, known for its vibrant colors.
Kalpitiya Peninsula & Wilpattu Wildlife Safari in the Afternoon
Kalpitiya - Depart early in the morning for the Kalpitiya Peninsula to arrive early for dolphin watching. Early morning is the best time to see hundreds of dolphins leaping in the ocean near Kalpitiya. Alternatively, spend time at the beach or lagoon, famous for kitesurfing.
On the return to Wilpattu, take a break at one of the large salines in the Puttalam Lagoon to learn about traditional salt production.
Wilpattu National Park - After lunch, embark on a wildlife safari to the heart of Sri Lanka’s largest and oldest national park. Wilpattu’s namesake Wilus are small shallow lakes surrounded by sandbanks and open grasslands, perfect for observing elephants, crocodiles, or even leopards, as Wilpattu has Sri Lanka’s largest leopard population.
In the evening, cross the New Town of Anuradhapura before reaching your destination for the next three nights, First House Mihintale. The three overnight stays on a half-board basis are included in the total tour costs.

Anuradhapura World Heritage & Mihintale Rock Temple
Anuradhapura Stupas Scenic Point - Visit the most sacred sites of Sri Lanka’s ancient capital Anuradhapura, including the Bo-tree, the white dome of Ruwanweliseya, the first stupa called Thuparama, the Twin Ponds, Samadhi Buddha, and moonstone.
Village Tour Experience & Dambulla World Heritage Site
Hiriwadunna - For the second and last time, start early, leaving the guesthouse at 10:00 am to reach Habarana - Hiriwadunna for a village tour at 11:00 am. This allows you to explore rural village life in Sri Lanka. The excursion begins with a short trek to a man-made reservoir. After a boat ride, study traditional paddy cultivation and rural vegetable plantations. Enjoy an authentic Sri Lankan lunch in a village house with a traditional country-style kitchen.
Dambulla Royal Cave Temple - In the afternoon, drive to Dambulla, home to the famous Golden Temple, the largest cave temple in Sri Lanka. It’s renowned for numerous Buddha sculptures from various periods and impressive paintings in the Kandyan style. When visiting the “Golden Temple,” note that it is one of the oldest surviving monasteries on earth still inhabited by monks.

World Heritage Sites Sigiriya & Transfer to Kandy
Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress - In the morning, visit the famous Lion Rock of Sigiriya, Sri Lanka’s most imposing ancient site. A multitude of unique features makes this former fortified city extraordinary, including one of Asia’s earliest water gardens outside Persia, the island’s best-preserved paintings from antiquity, graffiti with the earliest known poems composed in Sinhala, the giant paws of a former lion sculpture, and the palace or temple atop the rock, sometimes called “Sri Lanka’s Machu Picchu.”
New Ranweli Spice Garden - Take a break at a herbal and spice garden to see famous spice plants of Asia’s tropical regions and learn about herbal medicine in traditional Ayurvedic healing practices. A complimentary herbal tea will be served.
Matale - Make a brief photo stop near the largest Hindu temple tower (Gopuram) in central Sri Lanka. The Tamil temple in Matale is dedicated to the goddess Muthu-Mariamman.
Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic - In the evening, join a Puja ceremony at Sri Lanka’s most renowned Buddhist shrine, the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy, and enjoy a cultural and dance show near the Tooth Temple or Kandy Lake.

Millennium Elephant Foundation & Kandy Sightseeing
Kadugannawa - After breakfast, embark on a morning detour westward. Stop briefly at the Kadugannawa Pass to enjoy views of the “Bible Rock” and see the tunnel dug by the British for symbolic reasons, as it was said that a foreign power could only control Kandy by tunneling through the surrounding mountains.
Millennium Elephant Foundation - The Millennium Elephant Foundation in the Maha Oya valley offers a great opportunity for kids to learn about elephants. For animal protection, elephant rides are not allowed, but guests can participate in elephant care and walk through the jungle alongside an elephant.
Kandy - After lunch, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Kandy, the island’s charming hill capital. See Kandy Lake, the town center, and the famous Senani viewpoint. Afterwards, there will be various shopping opportunities. As a special treat, the guide will show you a local food market and other shops frequented more by locals than tourists.

Tea Plantation & Nuwara Eliya & Train Ride
Ramboda Waterfall - The first stop on your journey through Sri Lanka’s stunning tea highlands is at the waterfalls known as Rama Falls in Ramboda. The water flows through the Rama rocks. Enjoy the scenic views of the Ramboda area and Kotmale valley.
Damro Labookellie Tea Centre and Tea Garden - At the Damro tea factory, one of Sri Lanka’s largest tea plantations historically known as Labookellie, learn about the steps of tea leaf processing, including withering, rolling, oxidation/fermentation, drying, and quality sorting. Afterwards, enjoy a complimentary cup of tea and shopping opportunities.
Nuwara Eliya - Nuwara Eliya is Sri Lanka’s highest town. Its cool climate attracted English farmers to grow potatoes and vegetables, and soon after, the colonial high society from Colombo came to enjoy their leisure time and favorite sports. The British Hill Station atmosphere earned Nuwara Eliya the nickname “Little England.” On a small city tour, see the post office famous for its English-style timber framing and other colonial buildings like the Grand Hotel and Hill Club, view the golf course and racecourse, and see Gregory Lake outside town.
Nanu Oya Railway Station - From Nanu Oya near Nuwara Eliya, take the afternoon train to Ella. This part of the famous tea-highlands railroad is known for its many short tunnels and views of the Uva tea region on the left side. The driver will pick you up at Ella Train Station.

Little Adam’s Peak of Ella & Udawalawe Safari
Little Adam’s Peak View Point - In the morning, enjoy a short hike to “Little Adam’s Peak” near Ella. This is one of the most breathtaking vantage points in the southern highlands. From here, overlook the entire Ella Gap and the southern plains with the hills of Kataragama in the background.
Rawana Falls - When crossing the Ella Gap, take a break at the Ravana Falls, where there is a small and safe natural pool at the waterfall’s base for kids to refresh themselves. Locals also frequent this pool for a bath. The waterfall’s name refers to the legendary King Ravana of Lanka, a major character in the Indian Ramayana epic. Local legend says that after abducting Sita from India, he held her captive for a short time in a nearby cave.
Udawalawe National Park - Proceed to Udawalawe National Park for an afternoon jeep safari in southern Sri Lanka’s most famous elephant area. Several small groups of elephant cows and their offspring can be seen along the route. After checking the area for safety, the ranger may allow you to walk around a bit at the lake, where you can also see roaming elephants from a safe distance.

South Coast & Galle & Transfer to Your Beach Holiday Hotel
Hummanaya Blow Hole - On your journey along the south coast, take a break at the Hummanaya Blow Hole. Blow Holes are natural fountains like geysers, but even rarer. This fountain in Sri Lanka is South Asia’s only Blow Hole.
Kushta Raja Gala - Near Weligama, make a small detour to the Kushtaraja, meaning “Leper King.” This is a rock-cut Buddhist statue with Mahayanistic features.
Sea Turtle Conservation Project (Koggala) - At the Koggala Sea Turtle Farm & Hatchery, observe several species of sea turtles found in Sri Lanka and their offspring, saved and protected for later release into the ocean.
Galle Fort - Galle Dutch Fort, also known as Old Town of Galle, is a World Heritage Site and the best-preserved European fortress from the colonial period in Asia. Walk along the ramparts and visit the museums or boutiques in town.
Choose your preferred beach for the final days of your beach holiday, in or near Galle, Unawatuna Beach, Talpe Beach, Koggala Beach, or Mirissa Beach. Accommodation is not included in the tour costs.
