What a great experience and guide! - We enjoyed (8 yr old son, husband and I) the bird watching guided tour of the Rio Formosa lagoon. We were lucky that the tide was higher that day which allowed us to approach the salt pans where the flamingos were located. We saw spoonbills, plovers, terns, cormorants and osprey as well. Our guide, Pedro , was patient, friendly and informative.

Thank you for an amazing trip Paulo - Firstly, Paulo, our tour guide was absolutely fantastic and really made the experience special. He was very polite and extremely knowledgeable. The boat was nice, new and comfortable. The supplied binoculars were a good brand and worked very well. We were actually out for closer to 1hr20mins. Would recommend and we would do it again when visiting Portugal again

I would definitely recommend this amazing trip - This was an amazing trip. The boat was comfortable and easily accessible for my 86-year old father. With a maximum of 11 on board (there were only 7 on our trip), there was plenty of room. Our guide Andre was friendly and knowledgeable, taking time to explain what we were seeing and answering any questions. We all loved the stop at the island where we were able to get off the boat and take pictures, with my 8-year old son taking the opportunity to go for a paddle. This is a great trip for all ages and it was wonderful to see another part of Portugal.

Great birding experience - Andre was the guide on our March 4th guided tour. He was extremely personable and pointed out 20+ bird species. He also shared interesting facts about the oyster farms and the Seahorse Research facility. I would highly recommend Andre and this tour company!

Fantastic trip! - I booked this tour not as a bird enthusiast but looking for a calm, easy going and comfortable tour through the Ria Formosa. André was our guide, a marine biologist, and he was very informative and educational- binoculars and bird spotting cards were available and made the trip a lot of fun!

If you are a birder, take this trip. - Saw 8 new life birds. The western marsh harrier and the spoonbills were exciting finds for me. And the Flamingos were so beautiful in flight.

Exceeded expectations - very entertaining - The time flew by in a flash! 2 hours was actually too short. Our tour guide Pedro, a 24-year-old student from the area, led us, a diverse group of 10 people, on the comfortable boat (leather-upholstered couch benches). 1 hour 30 minutes before high tide we left the small harbor under the railway bridge. In the lagoon we had very calm seas and hardly any wind. The boat lay quietly on the water, you could stand there all the time except for the acceleration phases, take photos and look through the binoculars. Incidentally, they lend you optics on the boat for free, specifically Bushnell 8x42, compact and solid, good imaging performance. Although Pedro initially claimed that he was not a specialist himself, he found and identified all of the following species with certainty. After about 3 km of stop-and-go driving west to a former oyster farm, we stayed for about 20 minutes to observe terns, whimbrels and ospreys. Then we went back to the harbor. In total we found: + 3 ospreys + 2 marsh harriers + at least 15 whimbrels + 2 curlews + 4 flamingos + 2 flocks of spoonbills (6+ ~40) + 2 grey herons + at least 10 little egrets + at least 5 cattle egrets + 4 great egrets + cormorants + terns + countless other small waders (plovers, sanderlings...). I went on the boat tour with no expectations and came back with some great observations. I can definitely recommend the tour. Thank you, Pedro!

Definitely you should participate! - I like our guide Pedro and his enthusiasm to show us as many as possible species, content of the excursion, boat was very comfortable, also binoculars were good. We met 13 different species (some i have been watched first in my life). We were also lucky to see babies of kentish plovers. As a professional biologist i enjoyed much the excursion. I gave 4/5 points only because the excursion was at the high tide and the excursion description did not say that the number of species depends on this.
