Basilica Cistern is the second most visited museum in Turkey. In addition to its 1500-year history, it is full of structures made of spolia (Medusa head, weeping or sweating column) and many other structures brought from different dates and different places. In addition to historical information, we will also learn myths and legends. Recently, the 1963 Sean Connery’s 007 James Bond movie and the 2016 Inferno movie, adapted from Dan Brown’s book Inferno and starring Tom Hanks, were shot here.

I will share with you the beauties & hidden mysteries of Cistern.

Wonderful experience! - What a wonderful experience!! The Basilica Cistern is amazing at night. Our guide, AyHAN is one of the best I have encountered. Great tour with AyHAN of the Basilica Cistern - We have a very enjoyable tour of the Basilica Cistern with AyHAN. While the actual attraction is fascinating and captivating, it is pretty simple. He came prepared with his iPad to provide context and history and gossip to better understand what we were looking at and its significance to Istanbul. Highly recommended.

Fantastic ! - Our guide was a riot! Has a quirky sense of humor and yet full of knowledge. We enjoyed the tour and the guide very much. He also gave us some small souvenirs to take home with us.

Good experience in the cisterns with interesting information about both history and myth. - Very good trip. The guide was frienly and knowledgeable. He tied togeter the history all the way from ancient times unil todays culture. All together a very good experience.

Cisterna tour w/ AyHAN - Our guide was very knowledgeable about the Cistern, and of Turkish history. The Cisterna is a Roman cistern that is incredibly large built in the 1st century. The Roman columns are beautiful and the place has a mystery to it that is interesting. AyHAN was engaging and friendly; a perfect tour guide! I would recommend AyHAN and the Basilica Cisterna!

Get ready for an informative and entertaining visit that everyone will enjoy - Ayhan showed me and my wife around last year. We enjoyed it so much I took the tour again when I returned to Istanbul with my son. Ayhan is specialised in the Cistern. He shares a lot of interesting facts about the history but also adds some videos that bring things to life in an entertaining way. Be prepared for a lively and fun experience. And jumping the queue is a back bonus as the lines are usually very long.
