Friday 23rd August 2024 - Oguzhan (Oz) is without doubt one of the most educated, informative and entertaining guides I have ever encountered in over 60 years of travelling. He is highly professional - contacted us the evening before our tour to ensure we were aware of the meeting point etc. Brought what could have been a dry history lesson to life by his descriptions of the sites visited and offered entertaining stories and anecdotes. I could not recommend this tour and Oz more highly as both value for money and enjoyment.

Extremely educational and interesting!!! - Ozzie the guide was outstanding. He has a thorough and encyclopedic knowledge of the history of Istanbul, starting several centuries BC and covering all of the ruling civilizations. His presentation was thorough but delivered in a very understandable and non-pedantic manner. He has a very likable personality and is very attentive to each attendee. He packed in a huge amount of interesting information. You should be in decent physical shape because there is a LOT of walking. The lunch had generous portions and was surprisingly good. This definitely is a should not miss tour, perhaps the best one you ever had.

Magnificent tour - So fortunate to have Oguzhan as our professional tour guide. Started at easy pick up location and all the important historical sites are in easy walking distance. A complex history tour brilliantly narrated by Oguzhan - “Ossie” - who also provided good photography skills.

Perfect walk tour - Oğuzhan is the best guide I could have asked for this tour. This guy knows the history like the back of his hand. Not just that - he has his pride and passion in his history of the country, which is highly appreciated. Excellent behaviour, knows how to make immersing conversation, and knows how to manage and take care of the group. Regarding the tour - note this is a complete full day 8 hours walk tour. Yes, you can rest while having lunch and educational visit to carpet store. Wear comfortable shoes for this tour. Ozzy takes care of water need of the group to keep us dehydrated throughout the scorching heat. Grand bazar and carpet store is just to share knowledge about market place and the craft. It is upto individual purchase also keeping in mind of the tours time. This is the time, you can give some rest to your feet as well. Overall, a full day of indulging in not just Istanbul’s history but Turkey’s history all in all. Tesekkur ederim Oğuzhan! 😊

Mosques and museums in Istanbul - We could tell that our guide was knowledgeable for the way he answered all our questions. His ability to explain facts and the history of the places we visited was top of the line. He was extremely considerate with me who was walking slow with two walking sticks, did not rush with the pace of the walk, and even stopped to talk about the trivial things like the ice cream presentations on the streets. I can not speak better for him because his presentation exceeded all expectations. He deserves a gold medal for the work he does. Thank you.

Overall a good tour! But unfortunate sales pitches. - Our tour guide, Ozzie (Oğuzhan Ceylan), left a lasting impression with his profound understanding of local customs and history. Throughout our exploration of Istanbul, he expertly guided us through a multitude of historical treasures, including the majestic German Fountain, the serene Blue Mosque, the awe-inspiring Hagia Sophia, and the magnificent Topkapi Palace Museum. Each site was brought to life with Ozzie's insightful commentary, enriching our appreciation of Turkey's rich cultural heritage. Amidst our adventures, we savored a delightful tasting lunch that not only satisfied our palates but also provided a welcome respite during our busy day. My wife and I managed to visit most of the places on our planned itinerary, creating memories that we will cherish for years to come. However, our otherwise stellar experience was overshadowed by an unexpected turn of events. Following a brief and informative presentation on traditional Turkish rug making, we were subjected to an extended and overly rehearsed sales pitch at Nakkaş Turkish Rugs. What was initially portrayed as a cultural immersion quickly transformed into a disappointing one hour long commercial endeavor. As travelers seeking authentic experiences, we did not anticipate spending valuable tour time listening to sales tactics. The intrusive nature of the sales pitch at Nakkaş, and to a lesser extent at the Bazaar, detracted from the overall enjoyment of our tour. In reflection, while Ozzie's guidance and the beauty of Istanbul's landmarks were highlights of our journey, the unfortunate inclusion of prolonged sales presentations diminishes our assessment of the tour. Therefore, I am compelled to rate our experience with 3 stars, acknowledging both the positives and the areas where improvement is needed.
