Theodosius Obelisk (Egyptian Obelisk) 2. Serpent Column 3. Constantine Obelisk - German Fountain - In 1901, German Emperor Wilhelm II sent this fountain, built in Germany, as a gift to Sultan Abdulhamit. Located in Sultanahmet Square, its architecture stands out from both Ottoman and European styles. The inscription on the fountain commemorates the gift as a token of gratitude. - Blue Mosque - Also known as the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, the Blue Mosque was built by the Ottoman Turks in 1616. Inside, you’ll be mesmerized by over 20,000 handmade blue tiles and the ostrich eggs hanging from the chandelier. - Ayasofya Camii - The Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque, or Ayasofya-i Kebir Cami-i Şerifi, boasts innovative architecture, a rich history, religious significance, and extraordinary features. It has stood the test of time for centuries and was the largest Eastern Roman Church in Istanbul. Built three times on the same site, it is the world’s oldest and fastest-completed cathedral. Its breathtaking domes, monolithic marble columns, and unparalleled mosaics make it a marvel of architectural history. The mosque’s stunning interplay of space, light, and color inspires worship. Situated on Istanbul’s first hill, it is surrounded by the Sea of Marmara, the Bosphorus, and the Golden Horn. - Topkapi Palace - Topkapı Palace (Topkapı Sarayı) and its Harem are filled with more colorful stories than most of the world’s museums. Between the 15th and 19th centuries, libidinous sultans, ambitious courtiers, beautiful concubines, and scheming eunuchs lived and worked here when it was the court of the Ottoman Empire. Visiting the palace’s opulent pavilions, jewel-filled Treasury, and sprawling Harem offers a fascinating glimpse into their lives. It was used by 25 different sultans over 380 years. - Kapali Carsi - The world’s largest indoor bazaar, with over 3,000 shops. Depending on your time and interest, we can visit a carpet house on the way to the bazaar, which is more than just a shop; it reveals the mysteries of Turkish women.
