A Journey Through Time in Favaios

Our adventure began in the charming medieval village of Favaios, a place that seemed to have leaped straight out of a storybook. As we strolled through its historic streets, the kids were fascinated by the cobblestone paths and the quaint architecture. Our first stop was a bakery that has been in operation for over 200 years. Here, we had the unique opportunity to participate in a hands-on bread-making experience. The children were thrilled to knead the dough and watch it transform into delicious, warm bread. This immersive activity not only taught them about local culinary traditions but also gave them a taste of history, quite literally. The fresh bread tasting was a hit with everyone, and it was a delightful way to start our day.

Wine and Wisdom at Quinta de Avessada

Next, we made our way to Quinta de Avessada, a renowned winery nestled amidst the rolling vineyards. The kids were initially skeptical about visiting a winery, but the experience turned out to be surprisingly educational and engaging for them. Our final stop was Peso Da Regua, where we embarked on a serene boat tour along the Douro River. The breathtaking landscape, with its slopes covered in vineyards, left us all in awe. The kids loved the peaceful journey and the chance to see the Douro Valley from a different perspective. As we sailed through the calm waters, we absorbed the unique atmosphere and the stunning natural beauty that surrounded us. This tranquil experience was a perfect way to end our day, allowing us to relax and reflect on the incredible memories we had made. The visit to the viewpoint in Peso da Régua offered us a stunning view over the city and the surrounding landscapes, providing the perfect backdrop for some memorable family photographs.
