Additional Information

Amelia Island, abundant with deep-rooted history, is the unique place across the United States to have raised 8 autonomous flags. Its profound historical richness transports us across time, starting from the early life of the Timucuan Indians, our initial settlers dating back to 2000 BC. The sequence of flags narrate a saga of spiritual conflict and oppression, the influence of Christianity not granting the worship of any other deity. The Revolutionary war exerted a crushing blow on the island, with rebels making moves under the cloak of divine authority. Everyone from smugglers and slave traders to pirates played a role in shaping this Island’s progress. This captivating journey offers a hint into how an ostensibly insignificant barrier island has profoundly and obscurely influenced America’s history. We invite you to take part in this astounding expedition traversing through centuries of impressive historical truths.

Recommend! Very Informative! - A wonderful tour. The van was clean, comfortable and easy to hear, even to the folks in the back. Daniel was on time and offered us cold waters. His history telling was informative and funny. Well worth the time. We felt we were getting a "History" tour not a fluffy sightseeing tour with history thrown in. Answered all questions by the guests. Thank-you

If you do nothing else, take this tour! - We thought an 8 Flags Tour of sleepy little Amelia Island would be something to fill our time. Boy, were we wrong! This was an exciting, historical information tour that gave us more than we ever expected. Daniel Daly, our guide that day, was an excellent storyteller, and really knew his history. He could weave historical facts, dates and names together in a way that brought history alive. I wish I had had my history lessons presented like this when I was in school. I would have learned so much more. We came away feeling like we had really gotten our value out of this tour. Plus, Daniel has a great sense of humor. We recommend taking this tour early in your visit, so you have it as a foundation while you see the rest of the island. It’s fascinating!
