A must! - Great day. The guide shows and tells many interesting things about the flora and fauna of the Algarve. Lots of freedom, secluded beaches and lots of fun on the kayak

Loved the kayaking through the caves - Thoroughly enjoyed the kayaking. Being an older couple, we were not as fast as some of the others but Ricardo was very encouraging and patient and we kayaked along the coast and through the caves. Everything felt very safe and there was always the option to get back on the boat at any time. It was one of the highlights of our holiday.

Great journey! - It was a great balance between challenge and relaxation! Such a great journey! Just make sure to bring some caps/hats, sun cream and t-shirt, otherwise will fry on the sun like I did!

Fab experience - The tour guide was fabulous, knowledgable and entertaining. Overall a great tour of the caves. I think it varies slightly depending on tide times, the boat towed us out for about half an hour (which was pretty cool) then we rowed our way back passing in and out of caves, the last one we visited was spectacular but you can only get in at low tide. We were so lucky and got to see some dolphins too. Easy to find, head down the steps at the beach, turn left along the board walk and you’ll see the kayak hut at the end. A must have if you’re visiting Ferragudo

Loved it- even with young children. Best way to experiences the caves and the water - This is a great way to experience the caves and the coast if you want to be in touch with the water and gain a deeper understanding of how the caves formed, their future and the ecosystem that is connected to them. We loved that they towed us out in kayaks and we could stay in the water and didn’t have to ride on a motorboat. We were soaked and that’s what we wanted! We got to see cool parts of the caves that couldn’t be accessed in a larger boat. Our guides were so funny and knowledgeable. This is the best way to experience the caves but not if you don’t like working your arm muscles or don’t like being wet!

Get up close and personal with the iconic Algarve coastline - Kayaking is the only way to properly experience the iconic Algarve coastline and exploring it in a small, undisturbed group under the watchful guidance of an expert delivers an unrivalled experience. This is what Algarve Freedom Kayaks, located on a quiet beach in the traditional fishing village, 5 minutes from Portimão, delivers. You will be towed out from the beach to the caves which you then have the privilege of investigating up close (and inside) unlike the other boat trips. The towing boat remains with you a safe distance away throughout in case you are concerned about your kayaking skills, whilst marine biologist Ricardo, who knows the waters and the caves like the back of his hand, joins you to show you into the secret caves, coves and beaches, pointing out the wildlife and fossils and, if you're lucky, demonstrating his fishing skills. I appreciated this special excursion even more when hiking along the Lagos coastline a couple of days later and saw the swarms of kayaks and small boats in that area. During our own tour, we were the only group of kayaks I saw, which made me realise how very lucky you are to find and pick this tour. I haven't posted any pictures, as there are so many great pictures here, however why not be awed for the first time when you go?

Great experience! Would always come back! - We had a fantastic time. Kayaking along the coastline is always fun, especially with a very funny and experienced guide, who was able to explain all about local sea-animals and nature. Highly recommend ☺️

Amazing tour - Tour was amazing. Best thing we did in Portugal. We kayaked to several caves. Ricardo was informative and funny. Then we went to a secluded beach only accessible by boat or kayak to snorkel, swim or walk the beach. Booking on line is a little confusing, I recommend calling. Also GPS brings you to the beach but tells you to go right on the board walk. Don’t. Head left down the board walk and you will see their shed. You cannot see it when you enter the beach. Bring cash to pay, a bathing suit, and drinks (and I would recommend dry clothes in your car if you aren’t staying close). They have life vests and dry bags. You kayak about 3.5 miles. We were the only ones in most of caves. Personally I would skip the crowds at Benagil and do this tour.
