Lovely experience - My friend and I had a lovely experience cooking with Samri. We cooked some very tasty dishes, followed by some wonderful conversation over dinner. Samir is authentic, kind, funny and we would certainly recommend the experience. Note we caught the sunset on our walk back to the Medina from her house through the Marinid Tombs - a short and very enjoyable walk - a perfect way to wrap up.

Enjoyed the moment with friendly local of Fes - We wanted to add some spice to our trip itinerary with some activity with locals. So we booked a cheese cooking class here in Fes. Chaimae, the host, gave us warm welcome when we arrived her home. We learned cooking Moroccan style cheese and pancake. But what I like the most is the moment we had a nice talk with tea and pastry after cooking. Chaimae is very fun to talk with and she has a lot of things to exchange from local's insight. We learned about Moroccan life and culture. She explained a lot of things we want to know about Fes and Morocco.

Moroccan hospitality at its finest! Amazing experience! - We have just returned from a short break in Fez and I feel I must immediately write a review for the wonderful Chaimae who runs these cooking classes. The organisation and communication before the class was outstanding and Chaimae even came to our assistance when needing help with other trips and experiences which we had organised with other people (she speaks fantastic English, as well as other languages). By the time we met, I already felt like I was meeting up with a good friend. We first bought supplies from the local shops and market which was such an authentic experience, and so different from the more commercial Medina market in Fez. My son and I were then welcomed into Chaimae's home where again, we got to experience the 'real' Morocco and learn about the traditions and culture which very much involves hospitality and food. We had chosen to make traditional Moroccan pancakes and 'Marble Pastry' and we were joined by Chaimae's mother and treated to her cooking expertise. The whole experience was very hands-on and we both felt that we had learned a lot and were very proud of our final creations! After cooking, we sat in the beautiful dining area drinking traditional mint tea and eating some delicious pastries prepared by Chaimae's mother, as well as trying out our own homemade delicacies. It was an experience we shall always remember and which you cannot beat when travelling - interacting with the local people in their traditional way of life. I cannot thank Chaimae enough for her amazing hospitality and giving us such a very special Moroccan experience.

Fascinating, friendly, formative and... Delicious! - We spent a fantastic family afternoon with Chaimae. She welcomed us into her family flat, and greeted us with some of her mother's delicious pastries (we were approaching Eid, and her mother was busy preparing for that so we didn't get to meet her) and started telling us about the way to make mint tea. Simple you think? Yes, but there are some fundamentals you should know to avoid the bacteria that the mint leaves can develop. And this set the tone. Chaimae is amazingly talkative and entertaining. Not only is this a great cooking class, even more, it is Chaimae giving visitors a behind-the-scenes account of their life. As the stories multiplied, the serious cooking got underway. We made half a dozen delicious salads, the best beef and prune tagine any of us had ever had, and we baked bread. All this done while Chaimae was sharing photos of her cousins wedding, stories of their summer holidays when all 54 cousins (that is only the men) and at least as many women all get together for 2 or 3 months. We left with our bellies and heads full. And we all, from ages 11 to 50+, loved our afternoon.

A Taste of Tradition: Mastering Moroccan Cuisine in Fes - A Day of Culinary Delight in Fes From the moment I stepped into the vibrant atmosphere of the Cooking Class with Bread Workshop and Pastry in Fes, I knew I was in for a treat. The experience promised a full Moroccan day, and it delivered beyond expectations. The class began with a visit to a local market, a sensory overload where colors, scents, and sounds mingled to create a bustling tableau of Moroccan life. Our guide was adept at picking the freshest ingredients, sharing tips that would be invaluable for any aspiring cook. Back at the workshop, the air was rich with the aroma of spices and baking bread. The hands-on approach meant that we were not just observers but active participants in the creation of our meals. The bread workshop was particularly enlightening, revealing the secrets behind the perfect Moroccan breakfast. But it wasn’t just about bread; the pastry class introduced us to traditional Moroccan sweets, each more delightful than the last. The variety of dishes we prepared was impressive, showcasing the depth and diversity of Moroccan cuisine. Perhaps the most enchanting part of the day was learning to prepare Moroccan tea. It’s an art form in itself, and the ritual added a touch of magic to the experience. The instructors were knowledgeable, patient, and passionate, making the complex seem simple and the daunting, doable. They navigated through language barriers with ease, offering instructions in Arabic, English, and French. As the day wound down, we sat to enjoy the fruits of our labor. The food tasted all the better for having been made with our own hands, and the sense of accomplishment was the cherry on top.
