Fes - On the first day of the journey, the group will gather at the port of Tangier. The trip will proceed through the Rif mountains and the city of Tetouan, offering stunning mountain views until reaching Chefchaouen, a remarkable village nestled at the base of the Rif Mountains. In Chefchaouen’s medina, the central square, designed in a Spanish style, is surrounded by numerous craft workshops and lively shops. Here, some of the finest restaurants and cafes can be found. The journey will then continue towards Volubilis, passing through Wazan and other Rif towns. Volubilis, a significant Roman archaeological site, provides insight into Morocco’s historical past. After exploring the ruins, the group will head to the nearby historic city of Meknes for lunch and a stroll to admire the Medina’s wall, Bab El Mansour, and visit the sanctuary of Moulay Ismail. Following the Meknes visit, the journey will proceed directly to the city of Fez.
Fez - City Tour
Fes - After enjoying breakfast at the riad, the exploration of Morocco’s oldest city begins with a walk through its streets and alleys. The tour starts with visits to the Royal Palace, the Bab Bou Jeloud Gate, the Jewish quarter, and the first Mellah built in Morocco during the 16th century. All culturally and historically significant sites will be visited, including the renowned Al Qaraouine University, the oldest in Africa, the tanneries, the Attarine Museum, and the Mulay Idriss Mausoleum. After lunch, the group will visit a tile cooperative and then enjoy a stunning panoramic view over the entire Medina of Fez. Accommodation and dinner will be provided in a Riad.
Fes - Ifrane - Midelt - Ziz Valley - Erfoud - Merzouga - Erg Chebbi
Merzouga Desert - After breakfast at the hotel, the journey to Merzouga begins. The route passes through Ifrane and the fascinating Tiz Ntalghamt pass and the Ziz Gorges, offering views of the High Atlas plateau and revealing desert tracks as Errachidia approaches. The journey continues along the lush Ziz Valley, with stops for panoramic views en route to Erfoud and Rissani. Upon arrival in Merzouga, a traditional glass of mint tea will be served as a welcome, followed by a camel ride to a tent camp in the heart of the Erg Chebbi desert, where a night will be spent surrounded by dunes and the music of Berber drums.
Merzouga - Todra Gorges - Dades Valley
Dades Gorges - An early rise to witness the sunrise over the Sahara dunes is followed by a camel ride back to the hotel for breakfast and a shower. The route then leads through the Saghro mountains to Tinghir. A short walk through the Todra Gorges precedes the journey to the Dades Valley for dinner and accommodation.
Dades Valley - Valley of the Roses - Ouarzazate - Ait Ben Haddou - Marrakech
Marrakech - After breakfast at the hotel, the journey continues through the Dades Valley towards Kelaa Mgouna and Ouarzazate. The Dades Valley, known as the path of a thousand kasbahs, offers numerous opportunities for capturing some of the trip’s best photographs, as does the adjacent Valley of Roses. The journey proceeds to Ouarzazate, famous for its film studios. En route to Marrakech, a visit to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, the largest Kasbah in Morocco, is included. Built by T-Hami El Glaoui, one of the last Berber chiefs in the early 20th century, it was a stop on his long journey from the Sahara to Marrakech and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The landscape changes dramatically when crossing the High Atlas, offering captivating panoramic views and Berber villages all the way to Marrakech. Accommodation will be in a Riad.
