Medina of Fez - The 3-day desert tour from Fes to Marrakech begins by gathering all travelers at a meeting point in the Medina of Fes.
Ifrane National Park - The first stop is Ifrane, often referred to as the Switzerland of Morocco due to its chalet-style houses. A brief walk will be taken here. The city was founded by the French administration in 1928 as a retreat from the Sahara desert’s heat.
Azrou Cedar Forest - Following the stop in Ifrane, the journey continues through the Middle Atlas Mountains, with a roadside stop in a Cedar forest, where there might be a chance to see a monkey species native to the Atlas Mountains.
Errachidia - After enjoying lunch at a restaurant along the route, the journey to Merzouga continues. A stop will be made for a panoramic view of an Oasis filled with palm trees.
Merzouga Desert - Arrival at the Merzouga desert is in the afternoon. Here, camel rides across vast sand dunes to a luxury desert camp are available, taking approximately an hour and 30 minutes. A stop will be made on a high dune to witness a serene sunset over the Erg Chebbi dunes. Alternatively, a 4x4 vehicle can be used to reach the camp (included in the price). Upon arrival, the staff will guide guests to their private tents. After a delightful dinner, guests can relax around a campfire while the staff plays drums and sings traditional Berber music. Enjoy a starry sky before retiring for the night.
Merzouga Desert - Rissani - Todra Gorge - Ouarzazate
Merzouga Desert - Rising early to witness a magnificent sunrise is highly recommended. After a delicious breakfast at the camp, guests can choose to leave by camel or 4x4 car. Additional activities such as quad biking or buggy driving are available for an extra fee. Please inform the guide the night before if interested.
Souqs of Rissani - If the day is Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday, a stop in Rissani will be made to experience a traditional Moroccan souk, which operates only three days a week. The city is also the origin of Morocco’s current ruling family.
Todgha Gorge - After exploring Rissani, the journey continues to Todra Canyon, Morocco’s deepest canyon with cliffs over 300 meters high. A walk under this stunning canyon will be taken before heading to the final destination of the day.
After visiting Todra Gorge, the drive to Ouarzazate will pass by Kelaat Mgouna, known for its roses. If the tour is during spring, a stop will be made in a valley filled with roses.
Ouarzazate - Ait Ben Haddou - High Atlas Mountains - Marrakech
Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou - The guide will lead a visit to the ancient Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, sharing its fascinating history. This fortified village is an excellent example of Moroccan architecture and was once a caravanserai on the Sahara Desert’s trade routes. The Kasbah has been featured in many famous films and TV series, including Gladiator and Game of Thrones.
High Atlas Mountains - After exploring the Kasbah, the drive to Marrakech continues over the High Atlas Mountains, with stops for breathtaking views.
Marrakech Train Station - Arrival in Marrakech is in the late afternoon, with drop-off at the nearest accessible point to the Hotel/Riad. This concludes the 3-day desert tour from Fes to Marrakech.
