Imad Was Our Hero! A Magical Experience in Fès - From the moment we received our first message from Imad—crystal-clear English and Arabic fluency, flexible to our wishes, and generously offering to pick us up from a restaurant near our Airbnb—we knew that this was going to be an extraordinary experience. And it was. Our time in Fès, under Imad's guidance, was a most magical encounter. The tour empowered us to meet beautiful people and see fascinating sights. With sharp punctuality, Imad met us at the top of the hour, with a taxi driver included in the cost of the tour. They picked us up from our breakfast restaurant in the new part of the town and brought us to the old medina. As soon as we plunged into the first twisting, narrow alley, we could tell that Imad was born and raised within the streets. It's in his blood—he even told us his father was a tour guide for 44 years. On the first stretch of road, he outlined the path that he intended to take us on and the expected duration of time; articulated multiple times that he would take us to exclusive vendors but that we were not obliged to buy anything; and clarified that we could change the course of the tour at our discretion, if there were something we wanted to add or nix from our itinerary. He continued to execute such clarity of communication throughout the tour. This clarity was tremendously helpful, especially for us first-time travelers of Fès. Imad deftly navigated us through the labyrinth of streets, adeptly hitting every landmark listed on the TripAdvisor website. He provided in-depth knowledge of the city's history. What's more, he brought us to four exclusive, artisanal vendors—a Berber rug-making co-operative, the oldest leather tannery in Africa, a traditional fabric weaver co-operative, and a spice pharmacy. Again, at all of these places, we were not obligated to purchase anything—though we often did, for we were so impressed by the hard work and ethic of the artisanal vendors. Imad highlighted how, often in the medinas, the items being sold are actually manufactured in outside countries for cheap labor—hence, he only brought us to vendors where the items were authentically made in Fès. We were super grateful for his insight and commitment to showing us the authentic craftsmanship of the city. As additional compliments to Imad's competence, we'd like to highlight that he caught all of the little details, whether it was instructing us to watch out for cracks and odd steps in the medina or pausing to let us take pictures in especially beautiful places. Moreover, he went above and beyond the stated role of a tour guide. He introduced us to his family's home in the medina; secured us little taste samples of the sweet treats of the city from various vendors he was friends with; and even coordinated with our taxi driver to have him pick us up after our dinner, almost 2 hours after the tour had ended. Ultimately, Imad was a perfect guide, and we are exceedingly grateful for how he enriched our experience in Fès. Every member of our group agrees that Fès was our favorite city to visit in Morocco, by far—and Imad's guidance truly locked in this belief for us. He changed our lives! We would highly recommend him as a tour guide, and we hope to return to this magical city soon.

A guide worth his weight in the history of the medina - We were lucky to have a 6hr tour with Yassin. At first I thought 6 hrs was way too much but at the end of the tour I looked at the time and 6hrs had passed. The medina is just amazing and huge! I’m so glad that we had Yassin as our guide who knows all the ins and outs of the medina. We visited all the places listed including cooperatives of different arts and crafts. All handmade and all locally sourced. Important that there was no obligation to buy. I would have liked to see more of the medina but we would have needed another day to do so. Yassin’s knowledge of the medina is immense so take the advantage to ask many questions. I was also impressed that he learned the languages by just listening to people talk so he is fluent in most of the popular languages. I’m really glad we had Yassin with us to show us all the good spots of the medina and not trying to navigate it ourselves. Thank you Yassin for a memorable experience of your city’s medina.
