The best experience of my life - It has been one of the best experiences of my life thanks to Dragon Paragliding and especially Ata and Yunus, as the two were spectacular instructors. I have a physical disability and have still been able to do it thanks to their help, as they make everything easier for you to make it an amazing experience. Thrilling, breathtaking and exhilarating ride with a true pro! - Ata is a shaman of the sky, a poet on the wind. Do not miss the opportunity to let him guide you far above the peak of Babadag, stealing thermals from the birds. Bask in the endless beauty of the Turkish coast from the raw serenity of 4000ft above ground. I had looked on the paragliders with envy while walking the Lycian way, so took an afternoon to join them. Within a few minutes a bus had deposited 8 of us at the cable car to scale the mountain. Not only is this more enjoyable than taking a bus the whole way up - with constant breathtaking views - but as Ata explained is far more environmentally friendly than driving all the way (which then requires empty buses to drive all the way back down). There is little pomp and prep with tandem gliding. You put on the backpack, clip on to your partner and walk off the edge. Settle back into a comfortable seated position and let Ata do the rest. We climbed far higher than the mountain, and far further from the nearby town than I expected. Ata struck up light conversation when he could send my nerves, peppering our chat with knowledge about the area and a clear passion for the freedom of flying for a living. It's not what I was expecting, but Ata is hilarious. We spoke about all sorts of meaningless and fundamental things up there, his love for flying is that infectious. The flying itself was thrilling. We picked up a lot of speed in the gusts that tore up Babadag's vertiginous bare rockface, skimming close to the ridge and trees as we swung back behind and over the original takeoff location. We continued out over and passed the town, without losing any altitude. Ata pointed to some far distant mountains, and said we could reach there easily if we had the time (and if he didn't have a boss). The wondrous, ancient wooded hills of the Turkish coast are something special to witness from above. They continue on and on in both directions along the vast open sea, which is sprinkled with pirate boats and the ripples of skinny currents. Still high in the air, we took some photos and videos to prove to friends and family that I wasn't lying. Ata then suggested we have a little fun. In less than a minute we picked up incredible speed, spiralled a few full turns and completed two full swirls which I can only describe as loop the loops. I was definitely upside down. This was incredible - ask Ata to do the same for you. Skimming over the lagoon and beach itself we came in to land, a gentle stutter as I found my feet after over half an hour in the air. Ata was in a bit of light trouble for spending so long flying with me. We chatted further as Ata took us back to sort out transferring photos and videos. I cannot express enough just how warm, friendly and entertaining he and the wider group were. Do not miss an opportunity to go paragliding here, you will never forget it.
