Highlights
  • DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Flagstaff - Departing the Doubletree Hotel in Flagstaff, our journey to the Grand Canyon takes us through scenic views of the San Francisco Volcanic Field, with cinder cones dotting the landscape and views Humphreys Peak, the highest point in Arizona and capped with snow most of the year.
  • Grand Canyon National Park - Arrive at the spectacular South Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park. Price of park entry is included in the tour. Keep an eye out for elk as we drive 10 minutes through the park to our first stop.
  • Yavapai Point - Start near Yavapai Point for a restroom break, followed by our first views of the Grand Canyon with an introduction to the canyon’s features and spectacular geology.

From there, we can see the Bright Angel Trail, Phantom Ranch, and the Kaibab Suspension Bridge, along with views of the Colorado River far below.

  • Grand Canyon South Rim - Explore the best of the Grand Canyon’s South Rim and Desert View Drive, with stops at key overlooks.

During our time at the Grand Canyon, we will discuss the accounts of biblical creation and the global Flood found in the book of Genesis, and how it relates to the features and formation of the canyon’s rock layers. We will then talk about the events we believe carved the Grand Canyon—a lot of water, in a little bit of time from massive lake spillover on the Colorado Plateau.

  • Grandview Point - Stop at Grandview Point with distant views of the Colorado River and Tanner Rapid. While there, learn about the Wild West people history of the Grand Canyon, including copper mining and maybe a river trip story or two!
  • Grand Canyon Desert View Watchtower - Stop at Desert View for our lunch break, with food options at the Market and Deli. Featuring hot foods, salads, and sandwiches, along with a small grocery store. You may also opt to bring a lunch with you during the tour, though we may not have room for large coolers on the tour vehicle.
  • Navajo Nation - Descend 3,000 feet from the Kaibab Plateau as we drive down into the lands of the Navajo Nation. With dramatic views of the Little Colorado River Gorge and distant Painted Desert, our journey is filled with stunning scenery and wild west wonderment.
  • Wupatki National Monument - Explore Native American Indian ruins nearly 1,000 years old, surrounded by the high desert grasses and red rocks of this landscape.

We will talk about the Ice Age and migration of people groups around the world, including the Sinagua Ancestral Puebloans once referred to as the “Anasazi” that lived in this area.

We will see the distant Hopi Mesas where these Ancient Ones (Hisatsinom) moved to. Keep your eyes open, as there’s always the possibility of seeing pronghorn antelope, coyotes, or birds of prey in this landscape.

  • Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument - Our drive from Wupatki to Sunset Crater Volcano climbs around 2,000 feet from desert rocks and grasses to tall Ponderosa pines as we explore the otherworldly landscape of the San Francisco Volcanic Field.

Our destination is Sunset Crater Volcano, the most recent eruption in the area. Once there, we will embark on a loop trail to get up close and hands-on with the volcanic rocks here, and learn about lava tubes, caves, and spatter cone “hornitos” that surround us.

The trail loop is optional, with additional viewpoints or shorter routes for those not wishing to to the walk.

  • Flagstaff - The scenic views continue on our drive back to Flagstaff. With the best views of the San Franciso Peaks all day, the landscape often holds other surprises to see, such as deer, elk, meadows, and fields of wildflowers. We arrive back at the Doubletree Hotel for drop-off typically around 6:00 p.m.

Unforgettable experience for a lifetime of memories! - Our Triple Park Tour on 7/1/24 was unforgettable. Bryce Brothers was an incredible guide. He was humble and knowledgeable of the young earth worldview, and we wanted our teens to experience the Grand Canyon with this biblical framework. Bryce was personable and helped us to bond with the other family on the tour with us. When a tour guide from another company asked him about "your narrative," Bryce offered to take him on a Canyon Ministries tour so he could learn about the biblical creation account and the gospel of Jesus Christ. I would high recommend this rim tour for anyone who desires to learn the truth about the Grand Canyon!

Exceptional Grand Canyon Tour with a Biblical Perspective - Luke was an excellent tour guide. He was kind, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to be around. He seemed to enjoy the experience as much as we did! We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone seeking an insightful and enjoyable experience at the Grand Canyon.

A great family adventure in faith and love! - I really love Canyon Ministries and the love they have for others in accommodating families with special needs children. I'm truly thankful for them and recommend them to anyone wanting to visit places with a company that understands. I really appreciate how they picked us up from our hotel and how our tour guide shared his amazing testimony on how he became born again after being an atheist throughout childhood and early adulthood. The trip itself was comfortable and so nice to see the Grand Canyon, Indian ruins and sunset volcano all in one day. It was a truly memorable experience for us and we appreciate our tour guide taking pictures of our family for us at each spot as well. Thank you Canyon Ministries and praise God for such a blessing!

The best comprehensive tour! - Eddy Bessler was a FANTASTIC tour guide. He gave us a new Biblical perspective on the formation of the Grand Canyon, Desert View and Wupatki monument, Sunset Crater monument. We asked tons of questions (sometimes x2) and he was so patient. He always gave us the Biblical view and scriptural references. He pointed out the difference in rock stratification. I would do it again! I've already referred friends to this tour.

Exceeded expectations - Luke was amazing and spiritually sound. He was funny, personable, knowledgable, interactive, considerate and well rounded. Always honoring God and leading us to examine our own understanding. Would recommend to anyone. Scenery was amazing, unable to put into words. Cost was reasonable and we were well taken care of.

Bible + Science - This experience was amazing. We learned so much scientifically and biblically. The tour was go with the flow and relaxed with biblical teachings periodically. Our tour guide, Bruce, was incredibly knowledgeable and anointed to teach the Word of God. The kids were a little tired by the last two attractions but it was still 100% worth it. The bus was comfortable and we didn’t have to worry about gps and just took in the sights!

Navajo Reservation and views of Painted Desert and Ruins wonderful; would have liked more detailed information. - Nothing was mentioned about the events of Genesis 10–11 and migration from Babel to the Americas. It seemed like we were getting minimal information without good explanation of where we were and what we were seeing. (The same information was repeated several times). We felt there was much more that could have been covered. The Sunset Rim tour the evening before (with Luke) was wonderful and we got much more information in 4 hours than the 10 hours with Eddie. Eddie is very nice and maybe If we hadn't done the 4 hr Sunset rim, we wouldn't have known what we were missing. However, he also neglected to provide helpful information, leaving us to feel left in the dark when going from place to place. Half of us ended up eating a "rushed meal" at a "snack stop" unaware we would eat lunch at a nice restaurant within the hour. Also, it may have been different had we not had another couple with us that he spent a lot of time talking to.(It may have been very different had it just been our group)?? I am just very thankful we did the sunset tour so my grand kids did still get a lot from our visit overall. Unfortunately, I do think we were left with gaps in our understanding by not getting the in-depth education the second day. I was looking forward to the kids learning about "Babel.

I wanted to love this tour but I didn’t. - I wanted to love this tour, but I didn’t. It takes a certain energetic personality to be a good tour guide, especially on a full day trip. Our tour guide was a lovely person, but he just did not have the skillset needed to give an engaging, full day tour. The ride there was an excruciating hour and half of what came across as a monotone sermon. Kids were bored and so were at least some of the adults. At the Canyon, I did not feel the creation story was told effectively, and I was disappointed in the way some things were said. The place we stopped for lunch was crowded and we had to wait a long time to get what turned out to be really bad food. At the remaining stops, the tour guide did not give us much, if any, information and background on them. All in all, I think it comes down to what you are looking for in a tour. Perhaps others would feel differently, but I cannot recommend this tour based on my experience.
