Additional Information

The Accademia Gallery in Florence was formerly a part of the esteemed Academy of Fine Arts. It was established in 1784 by Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo, who amassed a vast collection of original and replicated art pieces.

The Accademia was selected to house Michelangelo’s David as it is situated in the very square where Michelangelo first learned to sculpt as a child. In 1873, the city of Florence transported David to a new location within the Accademia Gallery because his original location, the Signoria Square, was no longer secure.

Our knowledgeable guide will help the masterpieces come alive, telling the insider tales of one of the greatest artists to have ever lived.

A great way to see 'David' and learn so much more about this amazing sculpture - Turning the corner to see Michelangelo's David in full glory at the end of the gallery. Vera was a very helpful and knowledgeable guide.

Vera was great - Had a skip the line guided tour for Academia. Tour started in time and we did in fact skip all the lines. Our tour guide Vera was so personable and in depth. She really knew the history of a lot of pieces in the museum. She provided very detailed explanation of the statue of David and pointed out many significant parts of the statue. We were impressed with her knowledge and she kept a nice pace. She was easy to understand. Recommend this tour!!!

Wonderful Spanish tour guide - Our guide (Pamela) was amazing, she did the Spanish tour and was so considerate. Even though the museum was packed, she would make sure we were away from the packs of people but still brought us close to the David and other artwork when there was room. Very informative, friendly, and finding the guide office was so easy.

Right length, great info! - Very friendly and knowledgeable tour guide. Answered questions, very polite. Highly recommend! The only hiccup was we booked a private tour (7 adults) and it ended up being around 14-15 people. But it was still great!

Just okay - Overall just okay. Our group size was miscounted, which required some last-minute shifting of people. Our guide had some interesting insights, but could improve on general flow, control, and structure of the tour. The only reason half the group was there was because no direct Accademia tickets were available- in part because they get bought up by these tour companies. I do not think this tour was worth the steep price increase compared to regular admission, but again, they had the only accessible tickets.

Unreliable and unresponsive. - The day before we left for Italy they canceled our tour saying they were unable to secure tickets. When we booked, they confirmed and sent us tickets which I added to my Apple wallet. Not sure how they sent tickets they didn’t have. They did not respond to any communications I sent to them. It was too late to secure another tour. I would not recommend them as their confirmation is unreliable.
