When you enter a bar in the morning in Italy, you’ll find people gathered around the counter filled with a variety of croissants: plain, wholemeal with honey, cream-filled, chocolate, jam, puff pastry with rice cream, cream puffs, bull’s eyes, and all sorts of typical morning pastries. Next, head to the coffee counter to order an espresso, which we simply call coffee. There’s no need to specify, as in Italy, coffee inherently means espresso.
