Fattoria di Luiano - Luiano has been producing wine and olive oil since the 9th century. The estate has been owned by notable Florentine families, including the Strozzi. In 1959, the Palombo family took over the business, shifting from mixed agriculture to focus solely on vine cultivation, achieving top-quality wine. The Sangiovese grape is the predominant variety grown here. The estate’s long winemaking tradition is evidenced by ancient cellars from the Renaissance. You’ll tour the property, vineyard, and wine cellars where vinification occurs and wines are showcased. Afterward, enjoy a Chianti-based wine tasting with a scenic view.

Savignola Paolina - Savignola is a boutique winery in the heart of Chianti Classico since 1780, with 5 hectares of vineyards and an annual production of about 22,000 bottles. The name Savignola has Etruscan origins and was considered a Christian settlement built around the first half of the 17th century. Known for its all-female history, it is one of the area’s historic companies, thanks to Paolina, the first woman to bottle her Riserva in a Bordeaux-style bottle, bringing innovation to Chianti Classico’s tradition. The estate’s ancient barrel cellar dates back to the 1500s, blending tradition and innovation in wine production. The terroir consists of deep clay and chalky soil, requiring rigorous work to create ideal conditions for rich, intense, and long-lived wines.
-
Tenuta LATERRA - The final winery of the day has a vibrant history. This family-run winery began production in 2012, reflected in the lively character of its young wines. However, the estate’s history dates back to the late 1800s when founder Gualtiero purchased the first vineyards in Mercatale Val di Pesa. After his death, one of his sons brought a new vision, planting new vineyards, acquiring more land, and purchasing a 15th-century villa that became the property’s centerpiece.
The estate is in the Chianti Classico Fiorentino area and includes vineyards, olive groves, and forests. The grape varieties are typical of the region, such as Sangiovese, Colorino, and Canaiolo, as well as international varieties like Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine cellars from the 1400s were renovated for modern winemaking needs. Additionally, an 18th-century barn was restructured to serve as a wine cellar.
