La Spezia - Your private transport from Florence will stop in La Spezia. Here, you’ll board a train heading to Cinque Terre. Based on time, weather, and other factors, your experienced guide will determine the order of the villages you visit.
-
Riomaggiore - The southernmost of the five villages is Riomaggiore, named after the major river that once flowed through the town. Riomaggiore is known for its small harbor, tall colorful houses, and vibrant fishing boats.
-
Manarola - Moving north, we reach Manarola. The village’s name comes from a large wheel (Magna Rota) that once powered the local mill. Manarola is famous for its narrow alleyways that climb into the terraces behind the colorful houses in the harbor.
-
Corniglia - Corniglia, named after the Roman family Gens Cornelia, is the smallest of the five villages and sits 100 meters above sea level. To reach Corniglia, you can either climb the Lardarina, a 383-step pathway from the train station, or take one of the regular buses.
-
Vernazza - Vernazza is unique in Cinque Terre for its small port, which allows ships to dock in the protected bay. Here, you can visit the beautiful church of Santa Margherita in the main square or the Tower of Castello Dorio, which offers the most stunning view of Cinque Terre.
Lunch will be arranged by your guide and will be taken between 12:00pm and 1:00pm. The meal will include local seafood dishes, fresh pasta, and a glass or two of local wine. -
Monterosso al Mare - The fourth village to be visited is Monterosso al Mare, the largest of the five coastal villages. The village is situated on hills cultivated with lemons, vines, and olives. From here, you’ll take a scenic boat ride to the next village, Riomaggiore.
-
La Spezia - After visiting all five villages, you’ll take a short ride back to La Spezia train station. Depending on time, weather, and other factors, your experienced guide will arrange a boat trip between two of the villages. This trip will take you out into the Ligurian Sea, offering incredible views of the five lands from the water. Please note that boats may not run on rare occasions due to sea conditions.
