- The Baptistery of St. John - Discover the main attractions on this extensive tour of the Duomo Complex in Florence. This tour allows you to thoroughly explore all aspects of the Duomo Complex. After meeting our guide, you’ll be taken on a tour of the Piazza del Duomo, where you’ll learn about this captivating religious center. Following a comprehensive view of the Duomo from all sides of the square, you’ll enter the octagonal Baptistery of St. John. The guide will highlight the Baptistery’s famous golden mosaic ceiling and the impressive bronze doors known as the Gates of Paradise.
- Opera del Duomo Museum - Next, you’ll visit the splendid Duomo Museum in Florence, which houses over 700 masterpieces from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, including Michelangelo’s Pietà Bandini. The museum also features remarkable works like the Baptistery gates, Donatello’s sculptures, and the original wooden scaffolding of the dome. The guide will showcase some of the most renowned artworks by Michelangelo and Donatello. As the tour concludes, your guide will lead you to the entrance of the Cupola Dome. The only way to see the dome’s interior up close and enjoy the breathtaking view of Florence is by climbing its 463 steps (there is no elevator).
- Brunelleschi’s dome - The dome, designed and constructed by Filippo Brunelleschi, features narrow corridors for ascending and descending. These were originally intended for the workmen who built the cathedral and were not meant for public access. Inside the dome, you can closely admire Giorgio Vasari’s frescoes of the Last Judgment (1572-9) with detailed explanations as you ascend. Looking down, you’ll notice that Baccio D’Angelo began adding a balcony in 1507, but only one of the eight sides was completed, leaving the other seven sides as rough brick to this day. Upon reaching the top of the Cupola, you’ll be captivated by the panoramic view of Florence. After visiting the Cupola with your pre-reserved timed ticket, you can also explore the interior of the Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, Santa Reparata, and climb Giotto’s Bell Tower at your own pace.
- Via del Gomitolo dell’Oro, 11 - Enjoy an unforgettable vacation by joining this tour to escape the daily grind.
