The exterior is arranged in three vertical levels and topped with a double vault comprising eight internal segments and an eight-sided prismatic roof. You can visit the Baptistery with the same ticket, exploring at your own pace without any rush.

Our tour is fully guided by an official expert: don’t miss the opportunity to learn everything about the frescos you will admire from a short distance while you are climbing the Dome. Exclusive access to the terrace is reserved, not available to the general public. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to be among the first to enter, escorted by the official key-holder of the day
- A dress code is required to enter places of worship and selected museums. No shorts or sleeveless tops allowed. Knees and shoulders MUST be covered for both men and women. You may risk refused entry if you fail to comply with these dress requirements

- Please note the number of steps to reach the top of each monument: Terraces: 153 and Terraces + Brunelleschi’s Dome: 153 + 310
- Due to the security checks, please be informed that for the entrance to the Dome and Terraces, bulky backpacks and bags are not allowed to climb
- Children under 7 years old are not admitted
- Occasional events at the Duomo may cause slight itinerary changes

Brilliant guide - Our guide was great. She certainly knew her stuff and gave us a good understanding of Florence and its history, in addition to the cathedral, its tombs and paintings.
The steps are steep and long but very worth the effort.

How to get the best experience climbing the Duomo. In Florence - Frederika was the most wonderful guide.
She gave us a wonderful tour around the cathedral and explained the climb up the dome via the terraces brilliantly. I was quite nervous about the climb, but she was super encouraging and I had a fantastic experience. Her expert knowledge brought the history to life. I would thoroughly recommend this tour.

A great experience with a fantastic guide. - One of the best activities we did in Florence. A great experience and Jacinta was the BEST guide, friendly, knowledgeable and always checking on people as we made the climb to the top of the dome. Jacinta explained the meaning of the frescoes on the interior roof of the cathedral dome and highlighted all the sights once we emerged on top. The experience of being at the very top of the cathedral in Florence at sunset was magical.
One thing I wasn’t aware of was that our ticket also gave access to the cathedral bell tower and crypt - this was great as we returned the next day and visited these areas on our own. Just be aware that there are quite a few steps to get to the top. Fortunately there are numerous places to catch your breath and take photos on the outside terrace and internal galleries of the dome on the way up. I highly recommend this tour as a once in a lifetime experience and great fun.

Excellent experience! - We really enjoyed this tour. The tour started at the museum, which was perfect. We learned the history of the Cathedral, and details surrounding the architecture and art. Next we visited the baptistery and saw the art and architecture we learned about on display. Finally, we entered the cathedral and climbed to the top of the dome. After the tour we returned to climb the bell tower on our own, which was included with our tickets. We never waited in line, and we never felt rushed or crowded. And our guide was excellent!

Awakening the Duomo - The Awakening the Duomo option is worth the money. Your ticket also includes the Bell Tower, the Museum, and going back to the cathedral. Well worth the money

Great experience and enjoyable view of Florence - Great tour visiting the lovely building of the Cathedral and experiencing to get up to the terrace and the dome.
The view is fantastic, particularly from the dome, where you are able to see the whole Florence at 360 degrees.
It worths each one of the 460 something steps that you need to go through to reach the top.
I highly recommend it.

Robbery - Robbery! Don’t do that! You will get a normal simple tour (no special places, no super historian) BUT you will pay 109e for a ticket which in fact costs just 45e. A true robbery. Trip Advisor not only took more than 100% surcharge but also put us in Spanish speaking group!!! Go directly to Towns of Italy, ie local operator, and you will get not only ticket for 45e but also discounts!!!!
