- Persons wearing sleeveless shirts and shorts above knees are not allowed inside the cathedral.
- The Cathedral of Florence is an “operating” church, and it can be closed to visitors for any liturgical reason, even without notice (for the funeral of a Cardinal, for example)
- Please be aware that the off season is an opportunity for restoration work, often unannounced.
- Visitors are advised that the Baptistery is undergoing restoration of the mosaics of the vault. We apologize for the inconvenience.
- Entry to the Cathedral is not guaranteed as the Cathedral is a working church and hours can change without notice due to liturgical or other reasons.
- Please note that backpacks of any size or dimension, and any bag designed to be worn on the back, are not allowed.
- Florence can be very warm in the summer. Please be advised that this tour includes portions that are outside and could be in the full sun. Please bring a hat, small umbrella, or sunscreen if you are sensitive to the sun.
- Clients must arrive at the meeting point 15 minutes before the start of the tour. This is due to the timed entry of the tickets.
- Tickets are timed and expire within 5 to 10 minutes.
- Please be advised that it is not possible to join the tour after it has commenced.
- Please note that entry to Giotto’s Bell Tower is not included unless the option is selected.
- Please note that the Cathedral is closed to all tourists on Sundays. Instead, we will visit the Ancient Basilica of Santa Reparata (the Crypt).
- Tips/gratuities (for your guide) are always appreciated.

Much to take in for a first trip to Florence - This was a nice tour. It was so helpful to be on a tour moving through these buildings as it is very crowded with lots of lines. I did not know much of the history of these spots and our tour guide Sarah did a great job providing information. This tour ends within the Duomo Museum, and Sarah nicely highlighted a few pieces we were able to see together and then gave advice for other aspects of the museum that would be worth visiting even though not formally included in the tour. There is some element of waiting in lines that do appropriately move but nice to be with a guide to fill in some information as you wait.

Hidden gem of a tour - Alicia was so knowledgeable and had a wonderful sense of humor. Despite the rain, we had so much fun and learned a lot about Florence and it’s wonderful history

A fabulous experience and tour - The tour was spectacular and our tour guide, Frederica was excellent! Her English was flawless, and her knowledge of everything that we were seeing was amazing! She was kind, patient, and took the time to answer any and all of our questions. We loved our tour experience!

Fun and knowledgeable guide! - Eleonora was an excellent guide!! She was so knowledgeable, and also funny and engaging, with many little extra stories about the history of Florence. We did have a slight issue with the meeting point since they changed it at the last minute and we were not notified. We were very worried that we would miss our tour, but someone came to find us and take us to the new meeting spot. We were SO happy and relieved!! I would definitely recommend this tour!!

The guide was commendable. - Duomo is much more impressive outside than inside. Baptistery was under renovation. However the guide was excellent in providing insightful information and took us to places where excellent photos of the Duomo could be taken. Climbing of the Bell Tower was tiring but the view up there was magnificent.

Museum Experience is a must - The Museum was a jewel and the guide was very knowledgeable. The Bapistry ceiling restoration was underway and the scaffolding blocked much of the ceiling. I was hoping to have a view of the actual work being done but that was not the case. Also it was a cloudy day and semi-dark inside. Worthwhile tour for the Museum alone.
