I wish we had some free time at the Uffizi - Tour guide Leticia was top notch! - This tour were in two parts. The first was the Uffizi gallery with its huge collection of renaissance art (paintings, sculptures) by the old masters. The second part is at the Accademia - about 14 minute walk from the Uffizi. we got different tour guide for each. Our first tour guide Leticia was one of the best we came across on this trip. She was not only knowledgeable, but knew how much information to provide and at what speed. Of course, she had to choose which pieces of art to talk about (1.5 hour of guided tour). Her english was perfect and her stories about the artists, the Medici family members, portrait subjects, and life in the renaissance period in Florence - came to life for us. She was excellent! I wish we had free time to wander through the gallery on our own - but we had to go onto the next part of the tour the Accademia. The Accademia is very small in comparison (30 minutes is more than enough). While the Michelangelo's David is truly amazing to see in real life, we did not need a guided tour. If I were to do it again, I would book a guided tour for Uffizi only and just buy a ticket (skip the line) for the Accademia. Our tour guide for the Accademia was also not so great. Her English was hard to understand.

Excellent Tour Guide - Our tour guide was amazing. You could tell she loved Florence and was well educated on the history of the city. She pointed out the highlights and gave us lot of time to ask questions and take in the incredible sights. The only thing I would change is a bit more time in the Uffizi gallery.

Don’t miss this!!! - I’m sorry I cannot remember our guides name as she was phenomenal. Not only was she an expert in art history she continues to research and seek out new thoughts on the meanings of some of the works of art. She also encouraged us to research art from different points of view to create our own opinion. She made these museums come alive and focused on the highlights of this large museum. She and the tour were one of the best we’ve done. Highly recommend this!!!!

Manuela gave us the best tour we’ve had in Italy! - Manuela was the most exceptional tour guide we have had on this whole trip. She took us on the Ufizzi museum part of the tour. We had a different guide for the accademia tour. Manuela, a high school history teacher, is completely engaging with stories that taught me more in 2 hours about 200 years of renaissance art than I could ever have anticipated. I wish the tour could have gone on for a full day. Of course the museum would take a week to go through, so Manuela was very skilled at picking specific paintings for us to look at which really highlighted why the greatest artists are considered so great. Of course, at prime season, the museum is very crowded, but Manuela was also very skilled at getting us close to the paintings so we could really see what she was talking about. The second part of the tour was with a different guide and while she was knowledgeable and friendly, you really don’t need a guide to go see the David. It really is the highlight of the museum and there’s really not much more to see there. You do need to skip the line tickets!

Beautiful museums. Lots of history. Almost too much history because we missed seeing some things and stood too long at others - We really liked the tour guide but she really did some long winded talks about the history of the buildings and the family history and more history and eventually it all ran together. We missed seeing whole rooms because we would stand in one spot learning about 1 piece but not getting to see some other pieces because we got extremely detailed information about the one piece. It was a little boring for our teens who would have liked to have seen more with less detailed standing in one spot
