Highlights
  • Flores - We will start this tour at 1:00 pm when we pick you up in the lobby of the hotel where you are staying. Keep in mind that we follow all the biosecurity regulations for your peace of mind. Getting to the Mayan city of Yaxhá will take us 1 hour and a half but you will enjoy the road as there are many green landscapes.
  • Yaxha - As soon as we arrive in the city of Yaxhá, it won’t take long for you to start seeing the first structures, palaces, squares, and stelae. This city was contemporary with the nearby city of Tikal. Our expert tour guide will tell you all the history of their astrological knowledge, their alliances with other cities, their advances in agriculture, and more.

This city is not very known and you will see fewer tourists compared to Tikal. We will walk in the middle of the jungle and when the sun is about to fall, we will climb to the top of the structure called “Temple 216” or also known as “Temple of the Red Hands”, our main attraction of the tour. Take the time to appreciate the beauty of that moment, relax, and take photos.

  • Flores - After we visit this charming city, we will start our way back to your hotel. We will bring some snacks for you. Take advantage of this time to relax. We will be arriving at your hotel after 1 hour and a half. Thanks for traveling with us!

Additional Information

Yaxha, a lesser-known yet remarkable city near Tikal, holds many surprises for its visitors. With a tour of this location, you’ll find yourself traversing through dense jungles, observing a multitude of Mayan architectural structures, plazas, and stelae. The city is nestled amidst the Yaxha and Sacnab lagoons and offers a view of a related city, Topoxte, from atop a Yaxha pyramid.
The most fascinating attraction here is the ‘Temple of the Red Hands’. The temple gets its name from a two-handed red painting at its pinnacle, a relic from the city’s vibrant classical period. If you seek an unparalleled journey packed with memories that will last a lifetime, this is the opportunity for you. Come for the archaeology, history, culture, and natural beauty that encompass this location. To ensure a comfortable experience, we’ll equip you with a water bottle and some snacks. We look forward to your visit!

My Memorable Yaxha Day Trip - Guatemala - My wife and I, together with a Costa Rican couple, were picked up at our hotel in Flores, Guatemala for our 2nd day tour to this Guatemalan Mayan Archeological Park, named Yaxha. Our van driver was Ceasar and our tour guide was Noel. Both were very punctual. Ceasar drives good even on rough bumpy roads to the park and is professional. Noel is equally professional, informative, patient, well organized when it comes to the tour and speaks good clear English. He allowed us to climbed some high Mayan pyramids, and accompanied us throughout the tour especially along the surrounding jungle. There were very few tourists around so we got good photos, views of the pyramids. After the tour, an included lunch was served to us. Drinks not included. After lunch, we were dropped off to the airport for our trip back to Guatemala City. The tour lasted from 8:00pm to 3:30 pm. It was an enriching adventure, fun and full of exercise especially for the legs. The park is smaller compared to the famous Tikal Park which we visited a day earlier. We all enjoyed the tour and came home full of memories and insight about this Mayan park. Lastly, I like to thank Gustavo Nolasco of Maya Sky Travel Agency for booking this reservation which includes the flights, hotel, day trips and the guidelines.
