Highlights
  • Malta Aviation Museum - Guided Tour of the Museum. Malta Aviation Museum is an aircraft museum situated on the site of the former Royal Air Force airfield in the village of Ta’Qali, on the island of Malta. The museum, based in three hangars, covers the history of aviation on the island with exhibits, particularly from the Second World War and post-war periods. The museum is involved in the preservation and restoration of aircraft, some of which are in airworthy condition.
  • Mosta Rotunda - Mosta Basilica, a Roman Catholic Church dedicated
to the Assumption of Our Lady. The design is based on the Pantheon in Rome, has the third largest unsupported dome in the world and is Malta’s largest and most famous church. The church narrowly avoided destruction during World War II when on 9 April 1942 a German aerial bomb pierced the dome and fell into
the church during Mass, but failed to explode. This event was interpreted by the Maltese as a miracle, although many bombs failed to explode. During you visit you will also go up to the portico, to the bell tower & enter in the inner gallery of the church.
Then you will visit the World War II Shelter that skirts the Mosta Church parvis. The Shelter which was opened recently, was dug by hand in 1940 by 15 highly-skilled workmen. Families used this shelter during World War II to protect themselves from the many and continuous air raids. At the end of the tour, you will also enjoy some local savouries

Lovely Excursion - Having been picked up by a vintage bus we headed towards the Aviation Museum. The experience here was fantastic, being guided around it by Ray, who brought the visit alive, using his knowledge and experience. It made the whole trip memorable. From here we visited the miracle church in Mosta, it is so beautiful. The trip finished with a visit to the WW11 shelter tunnels, which were really interesting and a Maltese platter with a cold glass of wine. Perfect morning trip

A wonderful ‘must do’ trip - This was an amazing trip, picked up by our driver David, and seeing Valletta from a 30’s bus was really great, so many people turning to see us motor by at a steady 30’ish mph waving as we went by. We stopped to pick up another couple before setting off to the airfield, where we were met by the curator of the museum (Paul) our time there was one of continuous learning, with Paul’s stories bringing to life the airbase during the 2nd World War and life for those who have been part of the base/museums history until the present day, to be honest I wished we had longer there, as for a small museum there was so much to see and take in. Then it was back on the bus, if you want to have a lively ride sit right at the very back, and hold on tight! Off next to the underground air raid shelter (it is steep and a bit slippery) but gives you an insight of what it must of been like during the war. Then it was the church, where the bomb came through the roof (I was a bit ‘Churched’ed’ out by then, so paid my respects and moved on) to the next treat of lunch served in the local restaurant. This was superb, and our host was fantastic and she was so helpful and local dishes were devoured quickly, then it was time to board the bus again back for our journey home, the grins we had from ear to ear from sitting at the back of the bus stayed with us all day. A ‘must do’ trip and one I would do again when we return to this wonderful island.

Awesome Aviation Museum and Tunnels - The Aviation Museum was excellent, and would have liked more time there. The Maltese platter was disappointing and a waste of time.

Classic bus tour - What a great 4 hours scenery and places to visit. My family had a fantastic trip. Enjoyed the guided tour and food. The trip on the old 1930 classic bus was fantastic with a few stops and knowledgable tour guide. A chance to sample traditional Maltese food and drink. Great value for money and well worth doing !

A really interesting tour in a beautiful vintage bus - This was a fantastic tour, led by our wonderful guide Mario. The vintage bus was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed all parts of the trip, and found the history of the island fascinating. Our guide in the aviation museum was excellent and we found it very interesting. The church which had a bomb drop through the roof was absolutely stunning and we were fortunate to be there when a wedding was about to start. The food was very good too. Would thoroughly recommend.
