Fabulous Museum to visit! Highly recommended! GetSome!! - Fabulous museum aimed to educate the masses about the Caribbean's lost treasures that Mel Fisher spent decades searching for. (To this day his family still undergoes the task!) The Atocha Spanish fleet mother load is the highlighted topic in this museum! Highly recommended! GetSome!!

Good experience again at the Mel Fisher Museum. - We always visit this place although my wife now has been so many times she now sits under a tree outside with her book. As a diver and coin collector sunken treasure is of great interest. What I have found is that personally the coins , jewellery and ingots are great but the large amount of personal items brings the history alive and is poignant as there is more of an attachment to them. A great place to spend an hour and a remarkable story to be read.

Great museum - My husband and I really liked this museum. The movie that you see right after you enter provides all of the background on how the family found the treasure. Then you get to see lots of what they found.

Low Key Presentation for the Largest Treasure Ever Found - I remember when it was announced the Atocha (Spanish ship from the 1600's) was discovered and the initial stories were released. It was an amazing story about the biggest sunken treasure ever recovered. As a kid I was fascinated about treasure hunters, especially sunken treasure. The museum did not present this amazing story as amazingly as I could imagine it could have been told. That being said, it is a good museum with good displays. It is informative and educational. The excitement and the importance of this find were underemphasized.

Interesting- lots of reading - There’s a short five minute film at the beginning of the museum. The first floor showed Mel’s treasure and the history behind it. The second floor had photos showing how they excavated and catalogued treasure. Our teens—13, 15, and 17– had trouble staying interested in the reading g. I would not recommend taking kids under 10. Also there’s a $1 discount for military with id. Discounted tickets can also be purchased from the old trolley company if you purchased a tour from them.

Disappointing- not worth the price of admission . - Went here with my wife and we were both disappointed . The title of the museum is misleading . It’s all about a treasure hunter on the first floor and the seaborne slave trade on the second floor . A niche museum lacking broad appeal .

Most disappointing museum in Key West - The gold exhibit, whiich was the best part of the museum, is no longer on display Some silver is still on display The museum is now mostly a slave ship museum The administrator said someone stole one of the gold bars, so the gold exhib, which was the great reason to go the museum, had been removed All jewelry items for sale are now imitations, not the real gold/silver couns The museum is a pale imitation of what it once was It should not be recommended at all
