From Edinburgh to Inverness

Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park - Departing from Edinburgh in the morning, the journey heads west to collect passengers from Glasgow. The tour then proceeds north to the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, where there will be a brief stop to appreciate the stunning landscape.

On tours without Glasgow pick-ups, Day 1 will travel via Stirling.

Glencoe - The tour continues north to the breathtaking Glencoe, a location featured in James Bond’s Skyfall. A stop here allows for an exploration of the area’s haunting beauty and its intriguing history, including the 1692 massacre of the MacDonald clan. Don’t forget your camera for capturing this poignant Scottish site before moving on to the loch-side town of Fort William.

Fort William - Arriving in Fort William, a charming town by the loch, there will be a break for lunch.

Commando Monument - After a scenic lunch by the loch, the tour visits the Commando Memorial. Here, enjoy stunning views of Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in Britain, while learning about the memorial’s significance.

Fort Augustus - The journey continues towards Loch Ness, with a stop at Fort Augustus, a picturesque town at the loch’s base offering breathtaking views. Keep an eye out for Nessie! If time allows, there may be a chance to photograph the impressive ruins of Urquhart Castle.

Inverness - The tour arrives in Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, where accommodation for the night is arranged, and there is free time to explore the city.

From Inverness to Edinburgh

Culloden Battlefield - After a hearty Highland breakfast, the second day of touring begins. The tour departs Inverness for two significant historical sites in northern Scotland. The first stop is Culloden Battlefield, where Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobites were defeated by the Duke of Cumberland.

Clava Cairns - The journey then proceeds to Clava Cairns, a collection of burial monuments that provide insight into the life and rituals of Bronze Age Scots, over 4,000 years ago.

Cairngorms National Park - Following a photo opportunity at Carrbridge, the tour enters the magnificent Cairngorms National Park, the largest in the UK. Enjoy a leisurely lunch on the shores of Loch Morlich, and watch for the area’s wildlife.

Ruthven Barracks - Next, the tour visits Ruthven Barracks, an old military garrison constructed by General Wade and the British Government after the Jacobite Rising of 1715.

Blair Athol Distillery - On the return to Edinburgh, there is a chance to visit Blair Athol Distillery for a tour and tasting of award-winning Scotch whisky. Note that this may not always be possible due to availability. If Blair Athol is unavailable, there will be time to explore the historic Victorian town of Pitlochry.

Forth Bridge - The final leg of the journey back to Edinburgh includes crossing the impressive Queensferry Crossing. This engineering marvel spans the Firth of Forth and is joined by the Forth Road Bridge and the iconic Forth Rail Bridge, showcasing three centuries of Scottish engineering and innovation. After a short journey, the tour concludes back in Edinburgh, marking the end of the 2-day Loch Ness, Inverness, and the Highlands tour.

• Luggage is restricted to one medium sized suitcase per person. For guidance: a medium sized suitcase is considered 60-69cm high and roughly 45cm in width.
