Setting Sail with Kairi Dream

The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon as I made my way to the waterfront in Fort de France. As a former professional surfer, the sea has always been my playground, and today, I was about to embark on a new kind of aquatic adventure with Kairi Dream.

I arrived at the dock just in time to see the boat, a sleek vessel that seemed to promise both comfort and excitement. The crew, led by the charismatic Micka, welcomed us aboard with warm smiles and a friendly atmosphere. There were thirteen of us in total, a mix of locals and travelers, all eager to experience the wonders of Martinique’s northern coastline.

As we set sail, the gentle rocking of the boat and the salty breeze instantly put me at ease. The anticipation of spotting dolphins and perhaps even whales in their natural habitat was palpable among the passengers. With a refreshing cocktail in hand, I settled into the rhythm of the sea, ready for whatever the day might bring.

Dancing with Dolphins and Snorkeling with Turtles

Our first stop was a prime location for dolphin watching. The AGOA Marine Protected Area is renowned for its diverse marine life, and it didn’t disappoint. Within minutes, we were surrounded by playful dolphins, their sleek bodies cutting through the water with effortless grace. It was a magical moment, one that reminded me of the freedom and beauty of the ocean.

After the dolphin spectacle, we continued our journey along the coast, eventually anchoring at a secluded spot perfect for snorkeling. As I dove beneath the surface, I felt a familiar sense of wonder and connection with the ocean, a feeling that never fades no matter how many times I experience it.

One of the passengers was celebrating a birthday, and the camaraderie on board was infectious as we shared a cake and toasted to new friendships.

Our final stop was a hidden gem along the coastline—a bat cave nestled within the cliffs. The entrance was unassuming, but as we ventured inside, the cave revealed its secrets. The bats hung from the ceiling in clusters, their wings rustling softly in the dim light. It was a surreal experience, one that added an unexpected thrill to the day’s itinerary.

As we made our way back to Fort de France, the sun began to dip below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the water. The day had been a perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and discovery, a reminder of why I chose this island life. Martinique had once again captured my heart, and I knew it wouldn’t be long before I returned to explore its wonders once more.
