Safari taster - It’s a long journey, with ferry crossing and border controls it took almost 12 hours of travelling. The National park was worth it., also seeing local culture markets, local people going about their daily business, very insightful. Time not wasted. It’s a small-ish park on a scale of others in Africa, but still amazing to see many animals roaming around. At the park after onboarding a large jeep / army vehicle we set off on adventure. It took 2 hours to observe the following animals: 2 families of giraffes, zebras, antelopes, rino, monkeys, wild hogs, multitude of birds, and crocodiles. Lunch was at the on-site pizza restaurant with a traditional pizza oven. Very tasty pizzas. It was a quiet day, not over ridden by tourists. A lovely day, but be embrace chaos and length of travelling.

Excellent Day! - An excellent day with Pablo, our guide. He took care of everything from ferry tickets to the details of crossing the boarder into Senegal. Highly recommend!

An experience you'll not forget... Great tour - A long trip but worth the effort and you get to see a small part of Senegal. The park is ok but you can spot some lovely animals and birds during the drive. The trip across the River is amazing, as I had to be carried to the small boats.. something you don't do everyday! Try the Lion Walk when you get there... great to get close to these beautiful beasts.

Beautiful park, but also the journey to it (with river crossing) is an experience. - We came from Kotu and had to take the ferry. That is an experience in itself! The park is very nice. Lots of natural beauty. However, there is currently only one rhino, the other has died. There are beautiful birds to spot, zebras and giraffes, deer and warthogs and the park guide can tell you all about it. Tip: Gambia has numerous "travel agencies" near the hotels. Cheaper and often better than the excursions of the travel companies.

Walk with Lions - We went to this park 12 years ago not allot has changed in 12 years not that many more animals but the best thing if you want to do is the walking with Lions, which is a once in a life time thing to do this was worth the visit.

Good guidance in the park. - Guides knew how to spot the animals well. The rainy season had just ended, so the green was still very high. This allowed the animals to hide well and we could not see them as well.

Pablo rates 5 stars but the tour rates 4 overall - Pablo gets 5 stars. However, there is a lot of travel involved before you visit the park to see the animals and you spend time waiting in queues to leave Gambia, enter Senegal, leave Senegal and enter Gambia again. That said, the animals are amazing, and the guides really give you a great experience.

Not a safari but still a great experience - This is not a safari, but a wildlife park. Even so it was fascinating seeing these animals in a wild environment. If travelling from The Gambia the trip is an experience in itself, especially travelling on the ferry from Banjul to Barra and through border control into Senegal. You don’t need a yellow fever certificate as you can pay 600 Delasi as border control if need be. At the park itself we were lucky enough to see the rhino, zebras, giraffes, antelope and warthogs close up. The tour was about 2 hours with a knowledgeable guide. We didn’t do the walking with lions tour. Afterwards we were treated to wonderful pizza for lunch. We toured with Gambian Tours from The Gambia. It was expensive but worth the money for peace of mind as our guide, Kalle, handled all the ticketing and passport and yellow fever certificate issues.
