A great way to spend half a day when in Frankfurt - This is a wonderful experience both for sightseeing but also for the fascinating history lesson you receive. Our tour guide was Michael, who was giving us an incredible amount of information from the moment our journey began. The castle itself (about one hour away from Frankfurt) is stunning, as it contains several different eras of architecture which were added over the many years of its long history on top of absolutely incredible views of the town and river below. Visiting the town afterwards was very fun as well, as it was delightful to walk through and stop into various shops. Michael wasn an excellent tour guide, navigating everything from traffic to rain to limited timeframes with excellent skill and a wonderful storytelling ability. Both in the car ride in the way and then throughout the castle itself, he knew how to weave the different pieces of history together to make for a fantastic experience. We tremendously enjoyed our time with him, and he made sure we had the best experience possible. We went on the trip which begins at 3:30pm, and the castle has lights set up so it looks equally as pretty in the nighttime as it does during the day. The van we travelled in was very comfortable, and the overall quality of the experience was great. I would definitely recommend this if you're in Frankfurt for multiple days.

Nice visit - Heidelberg Castle, perched on a hilltop overlooking the city, is a significant historical site that offers visitors a glimpse into Germany’s rich past. The castle, dating back to the 1300s, showcases a blend of Renaissance and Baroque architecture, with many areas open for exploration. Visitors often highlight the castle’s unique features, such as the world’s largest functioning wine barrel, the Grosses Fass, made from 130 oak trees and capable of holding approximately 58,117 gallons of wine. The old apothecary is another point of interest, providing insight into historical medical practices. The castle grounds offer stunning views of the surrounding southern German landscape, making it a popular spot for photography and leisurely walks. While the castle is partially in ruins, this adds to its enigmatic and romantic charm, attracting numerous visitors each year. Overall, a visit to Heidelberg Castle is considered a worthwhile experience, offering a blend of historical exploration and scenic beauty.

Worth every penny to see Heidelberg Castle and the town! - Had a pleasant day trip from Frankfurt to Heidelberg and the castle. Our guide was Michael who genuinely shines with his knowledge of history regarding Germany and the area we were visiting. It was the Christmas Market time when I went on this tour so the added festive feelings were felt during our visit. The groups are small - only about 6 to 7 in a luxury passenger van. It was impressive to have seen one of the largest wine barrels in all of the world. It was surreal walking the cobblestone paths through the town knowing there was multiple centuries passed that people have been walking on those same stones. Picture Perfect wherever I turned!!

Worth the Investment. - Michael was a great guide. I love it when you are getting history/culture right from the start of trip before we even arrive to the destination. It was plenty busy for a cold weekday. Definitely a neat experience and money well spent. Heidelberg is the typical European village but with charm.
