Highlights
  • Riserva Naturale Saline Di Trapani E Paceco - In the first part of the tour you will have the opportunity to take a relaxing walk, discovering the infinite shades of white that characterize the salt, not to mention the blue of the sea, the gray clay and the pink of the tanks.

This route follows the perimeter of the salt pan until it reaches the banks of the salt pans where the water acts as a mirror to the sky.

Through this tour, the Culcasi salt pans offer an experience suitable for all age groups within the WWF reserve, among protected plants and birds, so you can see the salt that forms in the tanks by collecting it with your hands and following step by step the entire process that transforms sea water into salt that everyone knows.

  • Museo del Sale - The second part of the tour focuses on the guided tour of the salt museum and the ancient mill from the 1400s, where you can really get involved in the history of salt, retracing not only the tiring work of the salt pan, but above all, the history of the family who have run it for generations.

The museum is located inside an ancient baglio and is included in the official guide of the European Union. It is a strong testimony of the union that has always linked salt and sea.

What's Included
  • Tasting of whole salt and fleur de sel in various flavors

Really immersive experience - Our experience at the salt pans and salt museum was really excellent. The guided tour allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in the fascinating world of salt production, thanks to the detailed and passionate explanations of the guides. Every step of the process has been clearly explained to us, making even the most technical aspects understandable. The guides proved extremely knowledgeable and helpful, answering all our questions and enriching the visit with historical anecdotes and curiosities about the place. The visit to the museum was equally interesting, with a well-organized exhibition that made us appreciate the historical and cultural importance of salt. In conclusion, we highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to discover a corner of Trapani rich in history, accompanied by competent and passionate staff.

Worth visiting with a guide. - I booked.the visit to the salt pans through viator, arrived on site I was welcomed by two very polite ladies explaining how the day worked and since I had arrived with 1.30 am. you can also anticipate my guided tour... great. I first visited the internal museum where the girls also polite and professional explained everything very clearly for my 9-year-old son and you could see that he put passion in what he did (I apologize if I did not greet him at the exit). Then we continued externally with another very polite and professional guide going around the tanks where the whole salt process was also explained to us here until then we left ourselves free to take pictures on our own inside the salt pans. Since today we have all received new information and I must say that we really liked it. Duration about h 1.30 Thanks and very good to all

Guided tour of the Trapani Salt Pans - If you want to visit the Salt Pans of Trapani, you can go to the Salt Museum, at the price of 16 euros per adult from 13 years with reduction for children under the age, the guides will take you on a blast from the past telling you how they worked once and how salt collection still works today. The first part of the explanation takes place inside the museum and the second with a beautiful walk through the tanks. The story is very interesting both historically and scientifically! Recommended in the early hours of the morning or late afternoon. Along the way to the site of the visit, you can admire other salt pans and if you have any luck like us, spot the flamingos 🦩 Always respect nature and animals! Happy holidays 😎

Guided Tour of the Salt Pans and Salt Museum is a Must - The tour of the salt pans was great. The history and cultivation of salt is a fascinating subject and our guide was informative and interesting. The Salt Museum was also worth the tour, seeing machines for grinding and milling that had been in use for 600 years, amazing!

Salt Pan part of tour very good, part, but the museum was average at best - There were just 4 of us on this tour of the Trapani Salt Pans and our guide explained everything in English, then in Italian. She was easy to understand and the tour was very interesting. The Salt Pan portion of the tour was very good. The museum part of the tour was only average as there were many more people and it was difficult to hear what the second guide was saying.
