Arrival and Exploring Delhi

New Delhi - Arrive at the airport and transfer to the hotel (check-in time: 14:00). After freshening up, prepare for a half-day tour of Delhi, including visits to Qutub Minar, Lotus Temple, and India Gate. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Qutub Minar - Qutub Minar is a minaret or victory tower located in the Qutub complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Delhi’s Mehrauli area. Standing at 72.5 meters (238 ft), it is the second tallest monument in Delhi. Construction began in 1192 by Qutb Ud-Din-Aibak, the founder of the Delhi Sultanate, after he defeated the last Hindu ruler of Delhi. He built the basement, and his son-in-law and successor Iltutmish added three more stories. The fourth and fifth stories were completed by Firoz Shah Tuglak.

Lotus Temple - Situated in New Delhi, the Lotus Temple is a Baha’i House of Worship. This stunning structure, designed by Canadian architect Fariborz Sahba and completed in 1986, resembles a white lotus flower. It is one of the most visited buildings globally and promotes the oneness of the Almighty, welcoming people of all nationalities, religions, races, and genders.

India Gate - The All India War Memorial, commonly known as India Gate, is located along Rajpath in New Delhi. This 42-meter tall structure, designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, is one of the largest war memorials in India and is often compared to the Arch de Triomphe in France, the Gateway of India in Mumbai, and the Arch of Constantine in Rome. India Gate also hosts the annual Republic Day Parade.

Delhi Sightseeing - Agra Transfer by Road

New Delhi - After breakfast, check out and embark on a sightseeing tour of Delhi, including Jama Masjid, a rickshaw ride in Chandni Chowk, Red Fort, Rajghat, and Humayun’s Tomb. Then drive to Agra.

Friday Mosque (Jama Masjid) - Located in Chandni Chowk, the older part of Delhi, Jama Masjid is surrounded by beautiful Mughal structures. It took six years (1650-1656), five thousand workers, and a construction cost of one million rupees to complete.

Red Fort - Formerly known as Quila-e-Mubarak or the Blessed Fort, the Red Fort is situated along the Yamuna River, whose waters once fed its moats. It was part of the medieval city of Shahjahanabad, now known as Old Delhi, and showcases the architectural brilliance of Mughal design.

Humayun’s Tomb - Humayun’s Tomb, located in the Nizamuddin East area of Delhi, is the final resting place of Mughal Emperor Humayun. Commissioned by his chief consort Empress Bega Begum in 1569-70, it is the first garden-tomb in the Indian subcontinent and features extensive use of red sandstone. Designed by Persian architect Mirak Mirza Ghiyath, it was added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 1993.

Raj Ghat - Rajghat is a memorial in Delhi where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated following his assassination in 1948. The simple black marble cenotaph is set amid a beautiful garden.

Agra - After sightseeing in Delhi, drive to Agra. Upon arrival, check into the hotel for an overnight stay.

Agra Sightseeing - Jaipur Transfer by Road

Agra - Visit the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and Fatehpur Sikri, then drive to Jaipur.

Taj Mahal - A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Taj Mahal, meaning Crown of Palaces in Persian, is a rectangular tomb approached through a grand gateway with arches and alcoves. Water channels and fountains at the entrance enhance its beauty, and its reflection in the Yamuna River is poetically perfect.

Agra Fort - Built by Emperor Akbar in 1573, the Agra Fort is an architectural masterpiece made entirely of red sandstone. Located on the right bank of the Yamuna River, it was the Mughal residence until 1638 and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, situated 2.5 kilometers from the Taj Mahal.

Panch Mahal - Fatehpur Sikri - Fatehpur Sikri, located 40 km from Agra, is a town in the Agra district and a popular tourist destination. Founded in 1571 by Mughal Emperor Akbar, it was the capital of his empire for fifteen years. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it features Jodha Bai’s Palace, Jama Mosque, Buland Darwaza, and the Tomb of Salim Chisti, among other monuments. The Imperial Complex, inspired by Arab and Central Asian tent encampments, is a geometric arrangement of pavilions.

Jaipur - After visiting Fatehpur Sikri, drive to Jaipur. Upon arrival, check into the hotel for an overnight stay.

Jaipur Full Day Sightseeing - Delhi

Jaipur - Visit Jaipur’s monuments, including Amber Fort, Hawa Mahal, Jal Mahal, City Palace, and Jantar Mantar, then drive to Delhi.

Hawa Mahal - Palace of Wind - Hawa Mahal, located at the intersection of Badi Chaupad in Jaipur, was built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799. Its unique structure, with a mesh of small windows, allows cool wind to enter, keeping the palace comfortable during summer. The palace was designed for the royal women to observe street festivities without being seen. It is adjacent to the City Palace Jaipur and extends to the ‘zenana’.

Jal Mahal - A photo stop at Jal Mahal, a beautiful palace combining Mughal and Rajput architectural styles. Although entry is prohibited, the view from a distance while boating is mesmerizing.

City Palace of Jaipur - The City Palace in Jaipur, built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh between 1729 and 1732, is a major tourist attraction in the old city. The vast complex once served as the seat of the Maharaja of Jaipur.

Jantar Mantar - Jaipur - Jantar Mantar in Jaipur, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, features nineteen stone and brass instruments built by Raja Sawai Jai Singh between 1727 and 1733. These instruments allow observers to track celestial bodies with the naked eye and remain an engineering marvel.

Fabulous trip made even better with the help of an excellent guide, Mr Suraj Mani Sharma - Ours was a multi centered trip visiting Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and Udaipur. We stayed at the Oberoi hotels with the exception of Udaipur. I highly recommend Oberoi for a first class experience. Our guide, Mr Suraj Mani Sharma, along with his driver, not only made sure we got to the most relevant places but also took care of all our incidental needs along the way. He became part of our family. If you are contemplating this trip please try to use Suraj. You won't be disappointed.
