Highlights

From Reykjavík to the South Westfjords

Eiriksstadir - This beautiful turf-roofed house was once home to Eirik the Red and his son Leif the Lucky, who sailed to America long before Columbus was born!

Vatnsfjörður - Home to Þingmanná Waterfalls and stunning canyon

Krosslaug - Next is Birkimel Bay with sandy beach. There you will find Krosslaug Swimming Pool – one of the examples of “old times” pools that were popular amongs locals across the country. If you fancy a dip in warm geothermal waters please make sure to take swimwear and towel with you!

Kleifaheiði - Kleifakarl - Then we’ll cross a towering mountain range called Kleifaheiði en route to Patreksfjörður area. There’s an intriguing sight to see at the top! The engineers who built the mountain road raised a 5-meter-high stone statue called Kleifabúi in their spare time, marking the high point of their work.

Westfjord Highlights

Seven Fjords, Wildlife Spotting & Viking Longhouse

Westfjords Region - From Ísafjörður, you’ll enjoy unforgettable views wherever you look as the road traces its way up and down seven breathtaking fjords!

The Arctic Fox Centre - Arctic foxes roam this area, so keep a close eye out for the only native land mammal in Iceland here! If you won´t have luck, you can still meet them at Arctic Fox Center and contribute to their protection

Highly recommend - I just went back from my 10 days trip. This was included. David was our guide. He spotted whales while we were on road and we stopped and watched humpback and minke whales standing on land. That was so amazing! The views of the Westfjords were great and it was wonderful experience with David’s guide! Highly recommended!

Spectacular wilderness you only share with the birds - We traveled all over Iceland for ten days with Nice travel. This tour was the absolute highlight. Do you sometimes feel an almost spiritual connection with a place because its beauty and majesty are almost impossible to believe? This tour delivers. The bird cliff at Latrabjarg was the pinnacle with the puffins and all the other varieties. It’s an ornithologist’s dream. We had the pleasure of having David as a tour guide. David loves Iceland and it shows. He wants you to see its beauty and hear its call. I cannot say enough about how special he made the experience. I chose Iceland for a mother-dsughter adventure. We have memories snd experiences that are truly unique. The beauty of the place is burned into my brain. Its a place i will recall often when i need to remember its spectacular and unique nature. Please go before it is discovered and the wildness of it is changed forever. Some places are therapeutic in and of themselves. Go with David as he is the cherry on top of your sundae!

The absolute best tour in Iceland so far! - One of the best travel experiences in my life. There is no better way to experience the grandeur and sheer wonder of the untamed Westfjords. I had the greatest pleasure to take the tour with David, whose adventurous and nature-loving soul made the perfect expert guide for a tour like this. The tour was well paced, rich in stimulating and extraordinary activities and sights, and with plenty of opportunities to do my own little exploration in the evenings too. There is literally no better way to experience the Westfjords, I’m sure I’ll be back!

Amazing tour to an amazing part of Iceland - I recently returned from a 10 day tour with Nice Travel, including 3 days in the western fjords, which were amazing! Nature at its best - mountains, waterfalls and puffins! Our guide Thorey was fantastic, even taking us out at 10 pm until midnight to look for puffins as the evening is the best time to see them. We weren’t disappointed and saw many! I highly recommend visiting this area with an experienced Nice Travel guide/driver as the roads in the area are steep and narrow. A few times, Thorey had to back up to let cars pass, which is something only an experienced driver of their roads should do. I highly recommend travelling with Nice Travel.
