We’re planning a trip to Pozo Negro in Fuentes de Ayódar – an enchanting natural pool nestled in Sierra de Espadán. Commonly referred to as the Black Well or ‘unfathomable pool’, due to its three meter depth, it serves as a bathing spot near the Fuente del Zuro vicinity. Created over time by gradual erosion caused by water impact, it is renowned for its cold, pristine, and clear water. This natural pool is situated amidst the Sierra de Espadán Natural Park’s mountainous region, perfectly placed between Fuentes de Ayódar and Torralba del Pinar, and just 2 kilometers from the former. To access it provides an opportunity to behold a landscape abundant with pines, cork oaks, holm oaks, and vibrant vegetation blending harmoniously with the reddish mountains – a distinctive hue of rodeno, a type of red sandstone.
