Historically used as a refrigerator for silkworm eggs until the early Showa era, it is now a designated Japanese natural monument. The cave is 201m long and 8.7m high, with basaltic walls that absorb sound, preventing echoes. A 15-minute tour reveals lava shelves, rope-like lava, and ice pillars that remain frozen even in summer. This visit is optional; please inform the driver in the morning if interested.
