Oshino Hakkai - Oshino Hakkai consists of eight picturesque ponds in Oshino, a quaint village in the Fuji Five Lake region, nestled between Lake Kawaguchiko and Lake Yamanakako. These ponds are remnants of a former sixth lake that dried up centuries ago. They are fed by snowmelt from Mount Fuji, which filters through porous lava layers for over 80 years, resulting in exceptionally clear spring water cherished by locals. On clear days, visitors can enjoy a close view of Mt. Fuji.
-
Mt. Fuji 5th Station - This is the highest point on Mt. Fuji (2200m) accessible by car, making it a popular spot for hikers. It offers the closest view of the summit of Mt. Fuji and provides a splendid view of the city from its viewpoints. Note: The station is accessible via the Fuji Subaru Line, a scenic toll road on Mount Fuji’s lower northern slopes, starting in Fujikawaguchiko Town. The toll is 2100 yen, and the road may be partially closed in winter due to heavy snow. Additionally, during most of the climbing season (July 5 to September 10, 2024), the road is closed to private vehicles, with shuttle buses operating between designated parking lots at the mountain’s base and the 5th station.
-
Lake Kawaguchiko - Lake Kawaguchiko, with a surface elevation of about 830 meters, experiences cool summers and icy winters. Visitors can enjoy a boat cruise or a ropeway cable car ride, with each costing 1000 yen per person. There are numerous restaurants around Lake Kawaguchiko where visitors can enjoy lunch.
-
Oishi Park - Oishi Park is a public park located on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchi. It offers a breathtaking view of Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi. The park features a 350m walking path adorned with various flowers; from early April to late May, moss phlox flowers create a pink carpet, from late June to late July, vibrant lavender blooms, and from mid to late October, the kokia shrubs display their stunning red autumn colors. The contrast between the flowers and Mt. Fuji is truly spectacular.
-
Saiko Iyashi no Sato Nemba - A reconstructed Japanese village where visitors can explore traditional houses and rent traditional clothing.
-
Fugaku Wind Cave - The Fugaku Wind Cave is a lava tube located at the northern base of Mount Fuji, Japan. It is the largest of several lava tubes found in the Aokigahara forest in Fujikawaguchiko Town, Yamanashi Prefecture. Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Jinja Shrine - The Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine is one of approximately 1,300 Asama shrines in Japan, dedicated to the deity of volcanoes, particularly Mount Fuji. The shrine is part of the Mt. Fuji UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, designated in 2013. Asama shrines honor Konohanasakuya-hime (“cherry blossom princess”), the goddess of Mt. Fuji and all volcanoes in Japanese mythology. Most Asama shrines are within sight of Mt. Fuji; where this is not possible due to distance or obstructions, miniature replicas of Mt. Fuji made from mountain rocks are erected within the shrine grounds.
