Sailing, Snorkeling, and Seafood: A Day on Zanzibar’s Safari Blue Tour
Drawn by the promise of pristine coral reefs and a seafood feast, I set sail on the Safari Blue Tour in Zanzibar. Join me as I dive into the vibrant underwater world and savor the flavors of the island.
Setting Sail on the Indian Ocean
The sun was just beginning to rise as I made my way to the shores of Fumba, ready to embark on the Safari Blue Tour. The anticipation of a day filled with snorkeling, sailing, and seafood was enough to get my heart racing. As a former professional surfer, the ocean has always been my playground, and today promised to be no different.
We boarded a traditional dhow, its sails billowing in the gentle morning breeze. The crew, with their warm smiles and infectious energy, made us feel right at home. As we set sail, the cityscape faded into the distance, replaced by the serene beauty of the Indian Ocean. The water shimmered under the sun, a perfect blend of blues and greens, inviting us to dive in and explore its depths.
Snorkeling Amongst the Coral Reefs
Our first stop was a pristine sandbank, a hidden gem surrounded by some of the most vibrant coral reefs I’ve ever seen. As someone who spends a lot of time in the water, I was eager to dive in and see what lay beneath the surface. The underwater world was a kaleidoscope of colors, with schools of fish darting around the coral, each more vibrant than the last.
For those new to snorkeling, the guides were incredibly patient, ensuring everyone felt comfortable and safe. As I floated above the reef, I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of gratitude for the ocean and its wonders. It’s moments like these that remind me why I fell in love with the sea in the first place.
A Feast Fit for a King
After a morning of exploration, we made our way to Kwale Island for a seafood BBQ that was nothing short of spectacular. The aroma of freshly grilled fish filled the air, mingling with the salty sea breeze. We feasted on a buffet of Swahili dishes, each bite a testament to the rich culinary heritage of Zanzibar.
As we dined, we were treated to a fruit tasting session, sampling exotic fruits that were as delicious as they were colorful. With our bellies full and spirits high, we spent the afternoon lounging on the beach, soaking up the sun and savoring the tranquility of island life.
The Safari Blue Tour was more than just a day trip; it was a celebration of the ocean and all its gifts. For anyone with a love for the sea, this is an experience not to be missed. Until next time, keep riding those waves and chasing the sun!
