Great value for money. - Fantastic bus tour. Three routes and you can get a 48 hour ticket for €19 each. It takes you to the top of the island and all around Funchal. Excellent value.

Great way to see island - The on and off bus was the best way to get around. We did all the routes and also went up to Cabo Girao. My family stood on the clear glass, but I do not like heights. I was the photographer. I also liked shopping in one of the mallls.

Good value for money - I have been to Maderia a few times and last time did the red bus, so thought l'd do the yellow this time.Staying at the Vida Mar hotel near the Lido and booking through the hotel l got 10% off. If you board about 4.30 you can use it until the same time next day, which l did. A whole trip takes about an hour depending on the traffic, you can jump on and off to see things. It stops by the chair lift to Monte which you could do then rejoin the bus. You have earphones and wi fi on board. The drivers speak English well. There is an English chemist near stop 7 if needed. They do an evening tour to see the lights, but you need to check their leaflet to see which nights its running. I was unlucky and missed it due to a marathon, its not every night. A good way to see the town if your first visit.

Great service - My wife and I decided to do this tour one cloudy morning.Ticket office was next to our hotel and the seller gave us a map and showed us how to use the 3 buses. The 1st one follows a yellow route and takes you all around Funchal centre then up higher for some fantastic views,it then returns back on itself and you then get off at stop 14 I believe, cross the road to get the blue route along the coast. You get off at a little village Winston Churchill frequented and catch a little single decker bus to take you up the highest cliffs in Europe. You have to be quick at this stop because some ignorant people will try to barge you out the way to get on.This part of trip should be done early morning as it clouds over early afternoon and you can't see anything from skywalk.Journey back along the coast lovely and definitely a must do.We paid 19 euro each for 48 hour ticket but can probably be purchased cheaper in advance.

Traditional activity - Funchal hop-on-hop-off is - like numerous other hop-on-hop-offs - a very handy way to familiarize yourselves with local attractions. In Funchal it is not any better or any worse than somewhere else. Commentary gives you basic knowledge about important places, houses or activities. Buses, which we used were a little bit worn-outs. We bought a 5-day ticket and used the Yellow Buses to go to Funchal centre avoiding crowdy local buses. Only problem was that Yellow Buses did not have any clear timetable, you had to wait a moment beside the street. But a tourist must not be in a hurry...

Fine if you like Lewis Hamilton driving you - Arrival was okay but not the greatest customer service, the ninety minute tour was rushed and uncomfortable. Only one headset was working so we had to share. We were glad to get off at the end, it wasn’t the best experience we’ve ever had I’m afraid.

Two in one bustour 48h - Negative is that you can't buy tickets anywhere except on the bus. When we bought a ticket for 2 days from the bus driver on Saturday he was friendly and explained it calmly. Unfortunately, the buses do not run very frequently. On Sunday the first 4 buses just drove through without stopping, bravo my 2 day ticket has passed me again. Now we prefer to walk in funchal and annoy ourselves about no more bus drivers who keep us waiting for hours despite paid ticket. The 2 day ticket is not really recommended.

Miserable and disappointing - AVOID YELLOW BUS. Despite widespread advertising that free Wi-Fi is available on the bus, there is no WiF on the bus. I was not informed of this false advertising until AFTER I purchased a ticket and boarded a bus. Requesting a refund was clumsy and frustrating, as I had to take a City Bus back to the Yellow Bus store. This was an additional expense and further wasted my time in Funchal. Very frustrating; I doubt that my request for a refund will be granted. If I do get a refund, I will update this review.
